11 LGBTQ Celebrities Who Prove Gay Families Are Like Everyone Else

Celebrities — they're just like us. Pick up any tabloid and you can see Sarah Jessica Parker at the grocery store, Chris Pratt taking out the trash, and Reese Witherspoon filling up her car with gas. But watching celebrities parent is even more fun, especially when they talk about changing poopy diapers and the aftermaths of delivery. (Thanks be to Chrissy Teigen.) Society looks up to celebrities a lot, which is why it's so important to take note of the LGBT celebrities that prove gay families are like everyone else, too.

According to research conducted by The Williams Institute in 2013, an estimated 37 percent of adults that identify as being LGBTQ have had a child at some point in their lives. When the research counted those under the age of 50, both alone and with a partner, it found that 48 percent of LGBTQ women and 20 percent of LGBTQ men are raising a child under the age of 18.

Big numbers, right? Although they may still be deemed as non-traditional families, it's becoming apparent that LGBTQ families are everywhere and you know what? They are just like your family. Nobody wants to spend too much time and energy idolizing celebrities and watching their every move, but those in the spotlight have a great responsibility. Everyone is watching them, and it's up to them to show a positive life. For children of same-sex parents, for same-sex parents who need inspiration, and for more traditional families that want to see diversity and love, no matter the sexual orientation, in action, these 11 LGBTQ celebrities prove gay families are like everyone else.

Filling stockings on Christmas Eve makes me so teary-eyed. I think it's the memory of Christmas as a kid and knowing that I'm responsible for the magic of Christmas now for my daughter. Elton John seems to agree as he shared this cute picture of his and his husband's stockings, along with their two boys'.
