If you're looking for birthday party inspiration, then it's a good idea to check out what the stars are up to with their tykes' celebrations. The celebrity kids' birthday parties to inspire yours may be rather aspirational for most people, but you can still get some great ideas from them. Though these over-the-top celebrations have everything from ferris wheels to multi-tiered smash cakes, parents can still take a cue from the themes and color schemes. Or at least take a bit of comfort in the knowledge that you aren't blowing your kid's college fund on a party he may not remember.

But some elements of these kids' parties are attainable for most parents. For instance, even celebrity moms like to use Pinterest as a source of party inspiration. And it looks like letting your kid make a complete mess of his first birthday cake is a rite of passage for almost everyone. It's good to know some parts of birthday parties are universal.

That said, it's always fun to see how the other 1 percent lives. Although some celebrations are over the top (complete with a diamond-encrusted Barbie), others are more down-to-earth (such as an actress's charming backyard bash). Who says the smash cake has to be unhealthy? When P!nk's daughter Willow Sage,turned one, she was treated to a vegan carrot cake. The block-themed caked would be easy enough to use as inspiration for your own little one's big day.

Even celebrities love Pinterest-inspired parties. According to People, Melissa Joan Hart's son Tucker enjoyed a backyard party with activities such as sack races and bubbles for older kids. There were even drinks in mason jars.

You know Beyoncé and Jay Z spared no expense for Blue Ivy's first birthday. According to Hollywood Life, they bought Blue Ivy an $80,000 Barbie as a present. Additionally, Radar Online noted that Blue's first birthday party was a $200,000 affair with loads of fresh roses and a cake that topped two grand. And her princess-themed fourth birthday party was also amazing, according to the New York Daily News.
