Chad Rebels Against 'The Bachelorette' Date & He's Allowed His Own Opinion

by Kathleen Walsh

On Monday night's episode of The Bachelorette, JoJo takes the guys on a pretty intimate group date. Intimate in the sense that at the "Sex Talk," they were all invited on stage to share an interesting and/or funny story about their own sexual history. Evan, the erectile dysfunction specialist, was eager to use his professional knowledge to his advantage, and wound up implying that Chad was using steroids. Chad, however, was not excited to share intimate stories about his sexual past. In fact, Chad rebelled against the Bachelorette date, and you can't really blame him. He may not be the most popular guy in the group, but he's certainly entitled to not share his sex stories with a room full of strangers if he doesn't want to. As JoJo said, "the way you handle sex and communicate about sex tells a lot about someone."

Most of the guys came up with a funny story, some about how they lost their virginity, or getting interrupted by cops or mom. But Even decided to go after self-described "big guy" and this season's villain, Chad, by implying that he was using steroids. Even for an erectile dysfunction specialist, that's a pretty heavy accusation. And Chad was clearly not pleased.

Before any of the men got up to speak, Chad had already said that he didn't want to talk about his sexual past, so it's understandable that he was extremely uncomfortable when Evan decided to bring him into his monologue. It was somewhat less understandable when he used his physical presence as a threat against the other men, especially Evan. For his monologue, rather than providing a story about his sexual past, he brought JoJo on stage and simply said that he was all about the present. He then went in for a kiss that was denied with a very uncomfortable twist of the head. Chad tried to brush it off, but he was clearly bristled.

While it is completely fair for Chad to say that he doesn't feel comfortable discussing his sexual history with strangers, his overwhelming attitude, his threatening presence, and the unwelcome kiss attempt kind of counteract any sympathy I had for him. The question everybody seems to be asking is why is Chad still here?
