Christina & Tarek El Moussa's Co-Parenting Quotes

Imagine for a moment that you are going through a contentious divorce. Now imagine that you are a famous person, and everyone gets to watch you grapple with the confusing emotions of ending a long, once-harmonious relationship. Now add a reality show into the mix and welcome to the world of Christina and Tarek El Moussa, hosts of HGTV's Flip or Flop. This newly separated couple are trying to figure out not only how to work together, but how to raise two children as well. And judging from Christina and Tarek El Moussa's quotes about co-parenting, it seems as though they're at least on the same page about one thing these days: raising their kids.

The Flip or Flop couple made news last May when they went public with their separation. Fans of the show had noted their cringe-worthy tension during the sixth season as they attempted to continue to work together, but it seems they've managed to iron things out between them. They share custody of their their kids (six-year-old daughter Taylor and two-year-old son Brayden), as well as working together. Tarek El Moussa told Us Weekly in February that the couple have both "moved on" and are simply trying to figure out their new normal at work and on the home front:

You have good days and bad days. Now we say, “Hi, good morning.” We film together and talk about houses and the kids.

The couple might be struggling to find their footing at work, but they're on solid ground when it comes to co-parenting their kids.

Staying In It For The Long Haul

The reality is, when you have kids you're probably going to be dealing with your ex partner for good. And Tarek seems to understand this. As he noted in that same interview with Us Weekly:

We’ll be together for the rest of our lives because we have kids. We need to get along for the kids and for our sanity.

Keeping The Focus On The Kids

Despite rumors of bitter fighting, Christina told E! News that the couple is managing to keep things together as parents, and the kids are happier for it:

Tarek and I are in a very good place right now. We're doing a really good job. We share the kids 50/50 and our communication is great. Like I said, the kids are happy, so everyone's doing really well.

Flexibility Is Key

As many parents going through a separation know, it's important to stay flexible when trying to co-parent your kids. The El Moussas are no different. Christina told Today that she and Tarek have tried to be as reasonable as possible, particularly given their careers:

The best part is that we're both flexible. We both travel a lot, so if one of us is gone, the other picks up the slack. It's all about communication. Both of us are feeling really good. The kids are extraordinarily happy.

Keep Making Memories

Tarek shared a special Father's Day post on Instagram about the importance of fatherhood to him since the separation. He wrote:

I see these huge smiles and glowing eyes and my heart melts. Now... more then ever.... I truly understand what it is to be a father. Love your kids, protect your kids, create memories with your kids and make sure they live the absolute best happiest life ever!!!!!❤️❤️❤️ just love love love love love them soooo much!!! Happy Father's Day!! Tay and Bray I love you more than the galaxy as Taylor would say!

Because at the end of the day, your relationship with your kids isn't tied to your romantic relationship. You can love your kids, have fun with them, and make them happy, no matter what else is going on in your life.

And the El Moussas seem to be doing just that.
