Disney Just Released The First 'Incredibles 2' Trailer, & The Internet Can't Handle It

It has officially been 13 years since Disney/Pixar released The Incredibles. That's the entire life span of a petulant teenager, which seems impossible. Millennials will remember first being introduced to the Parr family, and watching them fight off Syndrome and his pesky robots. I think if you're being honest, you probably still have the odd Incredibles action figure, or perhaps some pyjamas, squirreled away somewhere. Because it was a great freaking movie, and everyone loved it. Well, good news everyone; Disney just released the first Incredibles 2 trailer, and the internet is melting with a whole pile of nostalgia feels.

The original Incredibles movie, directed by Brad Bird, was obviously a major hit. The story followed the Parr family, formerly known as the Incredibles before public opinion turned against them and forced them to live incognito, who live in Metroville just trying to live a normal life. Which sounds easier than it looks when you're talking about a family full of superheroes. There's Mr. Incredible (voiced by Craig T. Nelson), Elastigirl (voiced by Holly Hunter), and their kids Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack. As fans remember, Mr. Incredible is not loving his life in suburbia. He and former co-worker Frozone (Samuel Jackson) turn their hand at a little crime fighting on the side. Meanwhile, Elastigirl is trying to come to terms with the fact that her kids are showing signs of having superpowers... mayhem, hilarity, and millions of dollars worth of merchandise ensues.

And now, it looks like fans can get ready to head back to Metroville in the near future.

The teaser trailer stars the youngest of the Incredibles offspring Jack-Jack, whose powers apparently include laser beams shooting out of his eyes, sneezing up fireballs, and being just about the cutest baby in the world. Although it seems, according to the movie's official synopsis, that the rest of the family doesn't quite know about Jack-Jack's superpowers yet:

It’s a tough transistion for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again—which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the second installment of The Incredibles picks up where the first movie leaves off; Pixar head John Lasseter told the news outlet:

You know that at the end of the first movie when he comes up and you see the family dressed as superheroes, well that’s where [we] start this movie.

Which means all of the characters, including adorable little Jack-Jack will be exactly the same. And this is why animation is the best thing ever.

But don't ask me; ask the millennials who are dying to see this sequel after literally waiting half their lives so far. In fact, there seems to be something of a theme in the Twittersphere... children will have to wait in line behind the millennials if they want to catch the movie.

Can you blame the millennials? They've waited such a long time for this sequel, after all.

Incredibles 2 is set to hit theaters on June 15, 2018, so there's still a long time to wait before fans can watch the actual movie. But I think it's safe to say there will be trailers and teasers galore to keep people interested.

Winter will come and go, spring will arrive, and soon enough fans will be sitting in theaters. In the dark, hopefully with a giant bucket of popcorn and maybe some peanut M & M's. Finally ready to find out what has happened to Elastigirl, Mr. Incredible, and the entire gang.

It's going to be glorious.
