Peter Deserves A Hometown Date On 'The Bachelorette'

by Chrissy Bobic

Ever since Peter went on his first one-on-one date with Rachel that turned into a two-on-one with her dog Copper, fans were in love. (With Copper sure, but also with Peter.) That's because he managed to seem like the perfect match for her so early in the season that it feels almost mean to be. And now that we’re getting down to crunch time here, many fans are probably wondering: does Peter get a hometown date on The Bachelorette?

Next to the roses, those hometown dates are a pretty coveted prize toward the end of the season. As Rachel meets the families of the four remaining guys, it will become a make or break situation and a decision that eventually leads to the highly anticipated fantasy suite dates. But looking at the remaining men, it definitely seems like Peter will get a hometown date on The Bachelorette.

Honestly, the strongest contenders right now are Peter, Eric, Dean, and Bryan, if we’re being honest, and Peter has been a legitimate fan favorite since the moment he stepped out of the limo. He might not have gotten that first impression rose, but he did get the first rose at the actual rose ceremony, and his chemistry with Rachel was so obvious even then. He’s also been one of the less dramatic contestants, even though the preview for Monday’s episode shows otherwise.

Even still, Rachel seems diplomatic enough to want to work through whatever issues might arise because of Peter, given the fact that it’s so far in the season. This isn’t the DeMario drama of his ex-girlfriend two episodes into the season. At Episode 7, things are at a much more serious place with each of these men.

I know, being loved by the fans doesn’t guarantee you roses on The Bachelorette, as we’ve seen by the recent elimination of Alex (R.I.P. you beautiful creature), but whatever Peter potentially does to upset Rachel is something he’s obviously torn up about enough to hopefully warrant a real discussion before sending him home before hometown dates are even here.

There’s also the chance that the tears we hear Peter talk about in the preview have nothing to do with Rachel at all. He could have been telling her a story about an ex, for example, in case it comes up at the prospective hometown date. And Kenny’s eye injury is evidence enough that we can’t trust everything we see as it plays out in The Bachelorette promos. Peter and Rachel have clicked from the beginning and if they aren’t engaged by the end of this, I’ll be surprised. So at the very least, I'm betting he makes it to hometown dates.
