Donald Trump Once Said That Hillary Clinton Would Make A Great President

by Kenza Moller

He may not be her biggest fan currently, but during her 2008 campaign, Donald Trump said Hillary Clinton would make a great president. Not only did he donate somewhere between $100,000 and $250,000 to the Clinton Foundation in the past, but both he and his son donated to the Clinton campaign in 2002, 2005, 2006, and 2007. Before Trump began his own campaign for president, it seems he very much supported Clinton's run.

According to BuzzFeed News, in an interview with CNN in 2007, Trump told journalist Wolf Blitzer, “I know her very well. She’s very talented. And she has a husband that I also like very much. I think she’s going to get the nomination rather easily.” He claimed she was "very, very capable" and praised her 2007 health care proposal as "very good." He didn't stop there, either. In 2008, Trump blogged that Clinton would make a great president, as well. According to BuzzFeed News, Trump had a few words to say about Clinton on his Trump University blog, writing, "I know Hillary and I think she’d make a great president or vice-president."

That is, until he decided to run for president himself.

Things have certainly changed since then. Trump has recently increased his attacks on Hillary Clinton, saying that she got "schlonged" by Barack Obama in the 2008 Democratic primary. Not only did he use a vulgar Yiddish word for male genitalia to describe her defeat, but he also called her bathroom break during an ABC debate "disgusting."

Trump has also decided that Clinton "lies like crazy." He told NBC, "She's a liar and everybody knows that" — a claim which he's been happy to repeat on Twitter. He also tweeted this week about Bill Clinton, who he previously said he liked "very much."

In the past, he also retweeted a follower's quote that asked, "If Hillary Clinton can't satisfy her husband, what makes her think she can satisfy America?" He eventually deleted the tweet, but the evidence remained in screenshots.

Trump also did a 180 from his CNN interview in 2007, going from calling Clinton "very, very capable" to recently claiming she was a "totally flawed candidate." In a Grand Rapids, Michigan rally, he not only called her crooked, but said she was "not a president."

You know what, I wouldn't be surprised if Trump pulled the ultimate troll by at least claiming he used his outrageous campaign to boost Clinton's campaign. Maybe that would explain his complete change of mind when it comes to the Democratic frontrunner.
