Funny Reactions To Instagram’s Design Changes Show Users Went Through All The Grief Stages

by Kimberly Zapata

If you haven't updated your Instagram account in the last 24 hours, brace yourself: big changes are coming. OK, in truth, nothing crazy happened. However, Instagram has redesigned its interface, at least a little bit, and the company has a new logo, which is upsetting many loyal 'Grammers. The good news is that even if these modifications aren't your cup of tea, the Internet's funny reactions to Instagram's design changes are pretty over the top (so, at the very least, you should get a good laugh). But what exactly has changed?

Perhaps the most obvious — and controversial — change is the company's logo: i.e. Instagram's trademark retro camera lens has been replaced by something more, um, modern and colorful. In fact, the new minimalistic Instagram logo mimics the "flat designs" Apple and iOS users have come to know. And while, according to Us Weekly, the new logo still incorporates the tiny rainbow from the old logo, it is a now a "full-on rainbow background." (Minus green. Seriously: there is no green.)

As for other changes, the app's interface is now in black and white. Sure, there are still a few flashes of color: notifications now come through as red — instead of orange — and hearts are still red, but otherwise the design is fairly monochromatic. However, according to the company's blog, there was a very good reason for all of the Instagram changes:

We’ve made improvements to how the Instagram app looks on the inside as well. The simpler design puts more focus on your photos and videos without changing how you navigate the app.

But back to user feedback. Many Instagrammer's are not happy about the design changes. I mean, sure, the navigational elements remain the same and functionality is unchanged, but that doesn't mean people have to like the app's new appearance. Here are 10 of the funniest reactions:

Whether or not Instagram will decide to change its logo back remains unclear. (This is a move many are calling for, but it is also a move that I believe to be highly unlikely). The good news is that tomorrow is another day, and before long, this new design will feel natural. Before long, we won't even be able to remember the old one.
