Here Are All The Deets On Beyoncé's First Performance Since Having The Twins — REPORT

by Tiffany Thomas

Fans who feared they might have to wait until 2018 to see superstar Beyoncé in concert again were just given a (possible!) reason to celebrate. According to an exclusive report Thursday posted by Us Weekly, the star is planning to deliver at least one performance months ahead of her expected appearance at Coachella next spring. Reports are that Beyoncé will perform in October — for the first time since giving birth to twins Rumi and Sir in early June — and the reason for her earlier-than-expected return to the stage is pretty admirable.

According to Us Weekly, the megastar and her husband JAY-Z (also a megastar, by the way) will appear together for a concert to benefit the millions of people whose lives were upended by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma last month. The concert is expected to take place on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, US reported. Other Roc Nation artists are expected to perform, but none have been made public yet, according to that outlet.

It’s not surprising that Beyoncé would be willing to offer her support to Harvey and Irma victims in such a major way. Since the catastrophic hurricanes tore through Texas in late August and early September, the Houston native has been vocal about her efforts to bring aid to victims.

Soon after the hurricanes, the singer announced on her foundation’s official website that BeyGOOD Houston would team up with local charities to offer short-term and long-term aid to the affected communities. According to the website, the organization is working with Bread of Life, Greater Houston Community Foundation, and Texas Southern University to deliver baby supplies, period products, wheelchairs, and other goods throughout the city. But according to a Forbes report, the partnership could have even greater impact if monetary outpours from the star’s extensive fan base continue to roll in: plans were for donations to help offset the $3 billion in insured losses by Houston residents, according to that report.

Beyoncé's heartfelt speech during the Hand in Hand telethon earlier this month asked viewers to come together and support those harmed by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. Here’s part of what she had to say in her pre-recorded message to viewers, as reported by Spin:

During a time where it's impossible to watch the news without seeing violence or racism in this country, just when you think it couldn't possibly get worse, natural disasters take precious life, do massive damage and forever change lives, leaving behind contaminated water, flooded hospitals, schools and nursing homes. Natural disasters don’t discriminate. They don’t see if you’re an immigrant, black or white, Hispanic or Asian, Jewish or Muslim, wealthy or poor. It doesn’t matter if you’re from Third Ward or River Oaks, we’re all in this together.

In 2016, Beyoncé topped DoSomething.org’s list of “most charitable celebrities.

Beyoncé is one of several celebs who have stepped up in major ways to support Hurricane Harvey victims. Comedian Kevin Hart donated $25,000 to the Red Cross, according to a Los Angeles Times report, and in an instagram post called on actor Dwayne Johnson (his co-star in “Central Intelligence” and the upcoming remake of “Jumanji”), comics Steve Harvey, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, and Jerry Seinfeld, to join the effort.

Fans of the famous couple may be doubly excited to have a chance to see them perform on the same stage, as that hasn’t happened since the couple aired out their marital issues in their albums Lemonade and 4:44 (or, at least, that's the rumor that many fans believe, though it hasn't been confirmed by either of them). According to a Vulture report, the Carters haven’t actually performed together in concert since they co-headlined a concert for Hillary Clinton’s campaign last November. It's time.
