How Does Abernathy Know Logan's Sister On 'Westworld'? The Photo Holds The Key

It didn't take Westworld long to become everyone's new HBO obsession. In fact, it was the perfect thing to fill the Sunday night void Game of Thrones always seems to leave behind during its extra-long hiatuses. And even though the Westworld Season 1 finale is upon us, viewers still have more questions than ever. Sure, we now know that Bernard is a reincarnated host version of Ford's partner, Arnold and yeah the whole two timelines theory kinda feels like a given at this point. But there are still so many mysteries left to unlock, particularly when it comes to how Peter Abernathy knows Logan's sister, Juliet.

At the end of last week's episode, it was revealed that Logan's sister (aka William's fiancée) was the woman in the photo that Dolores' father, Abernathy, found in the very first episode, which caused him to malfunction. It's an interesting link between the two storylines for sure, especially when you take into account the fact that the photo looks brand new in Logan's hands, but worn and run down in Abernathy's, suggesting (yet again) that we're witnessing two separate timelines.

But what was it about this particular image that caused Abernathy to suffer from this puzzling glitch? Is it possible he met Juliet at some point in the past? In a way, that could be true, but not in the way you may think.

I suppose Juliet could show up to Westworld in the final hour and have some sort of memorable interaction with the Abernathy in William and Logan's timeline. But it's also just as likely that he will simply see Logan's photo at some point, so when he discovers it again so many years later, it's simply him recalling the memory of being shown that exact same photo before.

Now, of course, this is Westworld that we're talking about here, so the whole thing could prove to be a lot more intricate and complex than that. But then again, maybe not. I don't know if it's necessarily what's in the photo itself, but rather the fact that — due to the latest update — Abernathy was able to recall something that was once shown to him in a different narrative, and that's why his programming went off the rails. Maybe if it had been a completely different photo that he'd never seen before, it wouldn't have had the same impact on him. If that had been the case, maybe he would've thought it "looks like nothing" as per usual.

The point is, we just don't know right now, but hopefully the finale will give us some much needed answers to this question and help to bring this big mystery to a close.
