'Game Of Thrones' Season 7 Will Be Over Way Too Soon

Winter is almost here. The seventh, and penultimate, season of Game of Thrones is quickly approaching and fans can't wait to see what happens next. However, many viewers were disappointed to learn last year that the final two seasons won't be as long as previous seasons in the past. So how many episodes is Game of Thrones Season 7? This season will only have seven episodes to its name.

Although that's three less installments than what fans are used to, they shouldn't worry since the length of the episodes could help make up for it. In fact, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss revealed to Entertainment Weekly in an interview that Season 7 will contain the longest GoT episode to date. "There is definitely one that is considerably over 60," Weiss said when asked about any "super-sized episodes" this season. "We have two episodes over 60 minutes this year," he teased, while Benioff added that: "One will be our longest episode ever. We have one episode that's coming in around 90 minutes and another that's going to be our shortest episode at 50 minutes."

Can you imagine an hour and a half long episode of Game of Thrones? That's practically a movie. Whatever goes down in that episode, it'll surely be intense and may even rival the final two episodes of Season 6, which many fans (and critics) see as the greatest episodes the show has ever produced.

It's not all that surprising that they'll be extended episodes this season. As this is the penultimate season of the series, war has finally come to Westeros. Sure there have definitely been some epic battles thus far, but now with so many big players meeting in one place, the battles will be even bigger. And that doesn't even include whatever form of destruction the White Walkers will bring to the mix.

The last time fans saw the White Walkers their numbers seemed to have grown exponentially, especially with the addition of some many Wildlings that got left behind beyond the Wall. While the living are facing off against each other, the White Walkers are making their way to Westeros and one can guess they'll probably make their arrival towards the end or at the very end of this season.

Prior to that though, a face-off between Daenerys and Cersei is inevitable. Daenerys wants the throne and Cersei surely won't give it up without a fight. Unfortunately for Cersei, Daenerys definitely has the greater army, not to mention her dragons, so this Lannister is facing an uphill battle. Still, Cersei's never been one to give up and she certainly doesn't play fair. It'll be interesting to see who survives this thing. Thankfully, fans don't have much longer to wait and find out.
