'Sherlock' Season 4 Will Be Over Way Too Fast

After three long years, the beloved BBC series Sherlock is back for Season 4, with even more adventures and crime-solving drama than ever before, which means we need to savor each and every moment. But how many episodes is Sherlock Season 4? The past three seasons have all had just three 120-minute episodes, and it looks like this season is no different, sorry to disappoint. According to the show's official website, Sherlock will return for three episodes, entitled "The Six Thatchers," "The Lying Detective," and "The Final Problem." The first episode was written by show co-creator and the actor who plays Sherlock's brother, Mycroft, Mark Gatiss. The second two were written by co-creator Stephen Moffat, of Doctor Who fame.

Though the title of the third episode "The Final Problem," sounds rather, well, final, there's no word on whether or not this will be Sherlock's last season of the series. Of course, if history is any indication, if there is a fifth season, we'll be waiting years to actually see it. Perhaps by then Trump will be out of office and the world will have righted itself on it's axis again. What we do know is that life has changed for the super-detective and his affable partner in crime(solving). For starters, Watson and his wife Mary have had a baby.

Though Benedict Cumberbach, who plays Sherlock Holmes, is a father and knows how to interact with babies, his character is a little less comfortable with tiny humans. As reported in The Hollywood Reporter, Cumberbach said of his character, "I think Sherlock feels very protective toward them as a family, but he’s not a natural or a figure of authority when it comes to a newborn." No kidding. Sherlock has always had a bit of trouble when it comes to trivial things like basic socialization, so I can't wait to see how that plays out with a child in the mix.

The outlet also included the information that Cumberbach will get to work with a dog this season as well, a bloodhound that's not actually that fond of lots of humans, to be honest. "He was very sweet, but was a bit afraid of being in the center of town, afraid of too many people and not great on hard surfaces," the actor said during the same THR interview. Now that sounds like my kind of dog.

Though it's only for three episodes, I can't wait to see what kind of mysteries Sherlock and his friends will be solving next.
