How Many Years Passed Between 'Gilmore Girls' & The Revival? It's Been A Long Time

The Season 7 finale of Gilmore Girls aired on May 15, 2007 and since that day fans have been desperately craving more of their favorite fast-talking ladies. Thankfully with the help of Netflix, the fans' dreams are soon to come true. On Nov. 25 viewers will once again be able to return to Stars Hollow for the show's four-part series entitled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. But how much time has passed between Gilmore Girls and the revival? Believe it or not, 10 years will have passed since Lorelai sent Rory on her way — fresh out of college and off to join the Obama campaign. So you can expect Rory to be in her early 30s now. (Anyone else started to feel really old right now?)

Although many years have passed since the end of Gilmore Girls, the fan base has continued to grow rather than diminish. There are some fans that watched the show back when it first aired on the WB, which later became the CW, but many new fans got hooked on the show when it was added to Netflix. It was actually the ability to binge watch the series that many believe breathed new life into the show and allowed for Netflix to sign on for the revival series, giving the fans what they've been longing for. Based on the reviews that have already come out about the revival so far, it's clear it won't disappoint and fans will finally get the closure they've longed for.

The Season 7 finale became the series finale when the show was cancelled, but prior to that, creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband, Daniel Palladino, left the show when a new contract couldn't be negotiated. Therefore the last season wasn't written by them and the now-famous last four words of the show that Sherman-Palladino had planned from the very beginning were lost. Until now, that is. The revival is promised to end with the last four words that were originally planned and fans are anxious to know what they are.

But aside from finally solving that near decade-long mystery, though, fans are just excited to see what has happened to their favorite characters in the past 10 years. The show will pick up six months after the death of Emily's husband, Richard Gilmore, who was played by Edward Herrmann, who passed away back in 2014. Fans will see Lorelai, Rory, and Emily at different crossroads in their lives, each of them trying to figure out what comes next. Along with the Gilmore girls themselves, almost all the characters from the original series will be returning as well, including Sookie, Michel, Luke, Jess, Logan, Dean, Ms. Patty, Taylor, and so many more.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will be available for streaming on Netflix beginning on Nov. 25.
