How To Get Instagram Galleries ASAP

You know those friends who upload a bajillion photos to Instagram at once and clog up your feed and make you want to strangle them just a little bit? It's time to introduce them to Instagram's newest feature, Galleries. Released on Wednesday, Instagram Galleries allow users to upload up to 10 images or videos in a single post, saving both poster and viewers a messy, chronologically impaired feed. So for anyone who's dreamed of a swipe-able album on Instagram, dream no more: here's how to get Instagram Galleries on your own Instagram account.

Instagram rolled out the update to its users on Wednesday, Feb. 22, meaning most phones likely got the update automatically. Otherwise, to gain multi-photo capabilities, all users have to do is update their Instagram app in Apple's App Store or Android's Play Store. (Not sure how to do that? On an iPhone, click "Updates" in the lower right-hand corner of the App Store and check for any Instagram updates. On an Android, click "Updates" in the left-hand corner drop-down menu and look for updates under "My apps and games.")

Once your phone is up to date with the latest version of Instagram, you should have the full force of Instagram Galleries in your hands. So now that you've got it, how do you... um... use it?

As with most of Instagram's features, Galleries should be intuitive enough once you've played around with it once. To upload a gallery, go through the normal process of selecting a photo to post — but instead of simply tapping it, give it a long press. Instagram will then prompt you to select up to 10 images or videos to include in your gallery, according to the Verge. All uploads need to be 1:1 squares (say goodbye to including those panorama shots), and galleries will have a single location tag, caption, and like count.

Wondering how you'll be able to tell if someone's photo is a regular old photo or a full-on gallery? Never fear. Users' galleries will show three grey dots along the bottom of the first picture (just like there are underneath some ads on Instagram now), which should tip you off to swipe right for more pictures.
