Here's How To Install Instagram Galleries

by Korey Lane

In case you missed it, Instagram has taken it upon itself to relieve us all from the panic and heartbreak of 2017 by blessing the world with a new update. Instagram galleries became available Wednesday, and since then, you've probably seen an increase of friends who have been able to post more than one photo at a time, without using a collage format. While you might have seen similarly-structured posts from brands and paid content, this new update has given everyday users that same ability. But depending on your phone, you may not have magically been given this ability right away. So, here's how to install the Instagram galleries update if your phone didn't update automatically — basically, you might have to just update your phone.

Even if you've checked your phone's updates and it seems that the Instagram app has already updated completely, you still might not be able to utilize the new feature. So, the best way to ensure that you're able to make the most out of your Instagram experience, if you have an iPhone, is to check the Settings section of your phone and make sure that you've installed iOS 10.9. As for Android devices, you'll simply need to make sure you've updated the Instagram app in Google Play.

Once you've updated your phone, you should be able to open the Instagram app and utilize the gallery feature. All you'll need to do is add a new post as usual, and then select the "multiple photos" icon next to the Boomerang and Layout options. After that, you can select up to ten photos and videos to insert into your post. However, there are a few restrictions as to what you can do with this new update.

For example, while you may have several photos in one post, that won't have any thing to do with the number of likes for the post. Other users will only be able to like your post once, not once for each photo. Another restriction? Videos can only be 60 seconds long, and all photos have to be in the square format.

So, update your phone, ladies and gents! This new Instagram update is definitely one for the books, and now allows users to fully showcase their nights out, museum outings, and cooking experiments all in one post. Instagram galleries is sure to become the next big thing, so make sure you're up to date with your phone. You don't want to be the only one missing out on this update.
