How To Make A Chewbacca Mom Costume For Halloween

by Yvette Manes

She was everywhere this summer. Candace Payne, also known as Chewbacca Mom, hit the internet jackpot when her Facebook Live video went viral. Now she's back in a new ad for Hasbro, and suddenly you find yourself wondering how to make a Chewbacca Mom costume for Halloween.

One morning in late May, I was having one of those days. You know the kind, when your stress levels are through the roof and everything seems overwhelming. I couldn't focus on all that I had on my plate for that day, so I did what most people do when they are avoiding something, I got on Facebook. I was mindlessly scrolling when I caught a video still of a woman in a Chewbacca mask. I decided to click on it, and just a few minutes later I was laughing so hard tears were spilling out of my eyes.

The joy that Payne got out of something as simple as an electronic toy mask was contagious. Of course, I immediately shared the video with my friends, followed Payne's Facebook and Twitter page (then around 300 followers) and asked her to be my BFF.

I want to bring as much joy to others as Candace Payne brought to me. And, if the closest I can get is to dress like her for Halloween, so be it. Here is how you can look like the amazing Chewbacca Mom, too.

1

Chewbacca Electronic Mask

First you need one of these awesome Chewbacca electronic masks ($30).

2

Black T-Shirt

Next you need a black T-shirt. I chose this Star Wars Tee ($17), for obvious reasons.

3

Blue Jeans

Grab your favorite blue jeans ($20) so that you can be comfy while trick-or-treating.

4

Bob Haircut (Wig)

If you don't already have this sleek bob, you can find an inexpensive bob wig ($13).

5

Incredible Laugh

This is not something you can buy, but when you watch Candace Payne's video, you will see that this wonderful laugh is definitely contagious.
