How To Send Holiday Facebook Cards, Because 'Tis The Season

by Kenza Moller

It's the most wonderful time of the year — and Facebook wants you to spread that cheer with your family and friends using a few creative holiday cards. On Tuesday, the social media giant introduced a new feature intended to get users talking about "events and moments that are happening in their communities and around the world," according to a press release by Facebook's chief marketing officer, Gary Briggs. Luckily for the festive users out there, the new feature also allows you to post holiday cards on your wall for your friends. If you're curious, here's how to send holiday Facebook cards.

Unfortunately, you can't actually send individual holiday cards to different friends, but you can post a holiday card on your wall for followers to enjoy. To do so, start by looking at the very top of your news feed: that's where you'll find Facebook's latest message to users. Since it's that time of year, Facebook's current message wishes everyone happy holidays and lets them select a fitting holiday card, personalize it with a message, and share it with friends. (As with most posts you publish on Facebook, you can also modify the privacy settings, making it available to only certain people.)

Ready to get started? Here's how you can post a Facebook holiday card ASAP.

Check Out The Top Of Your News Feed

Ta-da! Facebook makes it easy to get started by having a holiday card invitation sitting right at the top of your newsfeed. To get creative, click "Share a Card."

Select A Card

Facebook has 18 festive, diverse cards for you to choose from. Personally, I liked the blinged-out cactus best, but there should be a little something for everyone. Select whatever card suits your fancy, and then click "Share" in the bottom-right corner.

Write A Personal Message & Determine Privacy Settings

Want to thank your friends for being awesome? Want to reflect on the last 12 months? Just want to thank 2016 for finally coming to a godforsaken close? Get creative and celebrate, vent, or wax poetic — write as much or as little as you'd like here.

This is also where you can choose who gets to see your holiday card. Personalize your privacy settings by clicking on the drop-down "Friends" option at the bottom of the pop-up, then get as choosy as you'd like.

Boom!

Congratulations, your holiday card has joined the real (Facebook) world!

Facebook's holiday cards are just one more way to get into the holiday spirit this year with friends and family, no matter how far away they might be. Not everyone will want to celebrate the holidays by posting cards on social media, but if you're keen on testing out Facebook's new feature, go have fun with it! Might I recommend the partying cactus or the Christmas-ready RV cards?
