How To Take A Nude Selfie Kim Kardashian Would Be Proud Of

by Lindsay E. Mack

Snapping selfies has become a way of life for many people, and they’re often used to capture a particularly great outfit or makeup look. But what if you’re happy with the way you look sans any outfit? That’s when knowing how to take a nude selfie comes into play. After 35-year-old mom of two Kim Kardashian posted a nude selfie on Instagram Monday, the Internet predictably exploded with commentary about her post-baby body. Say what you will about Kim K. — and people definitely have — but this woman does not capitulate to the haters. It takes guts to continually display herself like that. I mean, I don’t even like to be photographed while wearing shorts.

But if you’d like to follow Kim’s lead and snap some sexy nudes of your own fine self, there are ways to play around with the basics of photography to keep your pics looking great. (Seriously, good lighting can make a world of difference for any pic.) Maybe you’d like to surprise a partner with a tasteful shot, or maybe you’re just really happy with your body one day and want to document it. Whatever the case, here are some tips for taking the most stunning sexy selfies ever.

1

Use Natural Light

If you can pose near an open window (and not startle the neighbors), then your pics will improve considerably. "Overhead yellow household lights are unflattering," pinup photographer Sophie Spinelle told Allure. "Shoot in the room of your home that is most flooded with natural daylight. Also, side light from windows is great at emphasizing cleavage." Hey, almost any source of sunlight will be better than the bulbs in your bathroom vanity.

2

Use A Mirror

The "self" aspect of the selfie can make getting certain angles almost impossible. "Use that mirror to set up your pose—no matter what kind of sexyface you put on, pulling off an attractively-framed portrait when you can't see what the hell you're doing is nigh-impossible," as Sam Biddie noted in Gizmodo. Adjust your pose and camera to capture as much as you like.

3

Choose A Cute Angle

Shooting upward is generally not recommended. "I think the most flattering angle is either straight on or when you have your phone above your head so it's looking down on you," adult video star Joanna Angel told PC Mag. "If the phone is too low then you're looking up your nostrils and it just doesn't look good." You can take your time to find the angle that works best for you.

4

Do Background Research

Scan your area for other things that may wind up in the shot (besides your fine self). "Try to find a background that is simple and flattering—no messy counters or beds, and please no toilets in the shot," Bettina May, professional model and photographer, told Racked. Because you don't want anything like a pile of laundry to distract from the main element.

5

Prop Up The Goods

You can use your pose to work in your favor. As recommended by The Frisky, "use your arms to subtly squish the girls together." It will give a little lift with almost no effort on your part.

6

Accessorize

Why bother with accessories when there aren't any clothes? Why not?! Leigh, a photographer for a nude and erotic photography service, told The Debrief that "Water can look good, especially for boob shots. It’s all about thinking outside of the box." Maybe consider hopping the shower right before your shot.

7

Own It

Having the right attitude can make all the difference in your shot. "It's all about confidence, right? It's all about feeling good, looking good," model Ariel Meredith told People when asked her secret to taking a sexy selfie. Be proud of what you're bringing to the shot, because there's nothing sexier than that.
