Is Arya Lady Stoneheart On 'Game Of Thrones?' She's Definitely Doing The Lady's Work

When you sit down to watch Game of Thrones, you can be sure of a few things: you're going to watch your favorite character die a horrific death; you'll be surprised in the worst of ways; you might just find yourself rooting for the underdog and, well, you'll see differences between the books and the series. One question has plagued avid readers/views since "The Red Wedding," and the Season 6 finale brought that question to the forefront of dedicated fans' minds. "Is Arya Lady Stoneheart on Game of Thrones?"

For those who don't know and/or aren't caught up with the books, Lady Stoneheart is essentially the resurrected form of Catelyn Stark. She is one of the few remaining characters who hasn't transition from the books to the screen adaptation, leaving many fans to wonder when (or if) she'll ever make her HBO debut. While she didn't reveal herself, per say, during the Season 6 finale, it's safe to say that Arya is picking up where Lady Stoneheart never truly had a chance to start.

For example, Lady Stoneheart's entire mission is to enact revenge, in the name of her family, against those who have hurt/killed/essentially and effectively screwed them over, according to Vox's pretty thorough breakdown of who Lady Stoneheart is. I don't know very many Game of Thrones fans who can forget the horrific way in which Catelyn Stark died; the slow cut across her neck. That same cut was carried out by Catelyn's daughter, Arya, the moment she landed back in Westeros and against the very people who killed her family. Her goal, much like Lady Stoneheart's, is to enact revenge against those who brutally murdered her family. So while we can't say, for sure, if Arya is filling the Lady Stoneheart role, she sure is doing her dirty work in her absence and for the time being.

Game of Thrones is notorious for breaking our collective hearts in the worst, most violent way possible, but at least they're giving us a Lady Stoneheart alternative that we can hang our vengeance-loving hats on.
