Cersei Just Dropped Some Big News On Jaime On 'Game Of Thrones'

by Allison Piwowarski

Here we are, halfway through Season 7 of Game of Thrones. Every main character has their own issues to deal with, but in Episode 5, Cersei and Jaime Lannister took the cake. After a brotherly reunion, Jaime visited Cersei with an attempt to convince her to meet with Daenerys. It is then that she announced she was pregnant, and her brother was the father. But is Jaime really the father of Cersei's baby on Game of Thrones? Not everyone is convinced, and honestly, can you blame them? This is Cersei Lannister we're talking about.

On Sunday's episode, viewers found themselves in a few Lannister family reunions that got, well, a little awkward. One of the most awkward, or at least shocking, reunions was Jaime and Cersei's after Jaime revealed to Cersei that he had just visited Tyrion moments before. Tyrion urged Jaime to convince Cersei to meet with Daenerys, before the war for the throne got too ugly (though it feels like we went far beyond that point in the recent battle in Episode 4). Cersei essentially laughed off the idea, and told Jaime that there were bigger things at play. I'm talking about a baby, y'all.

Some Twitter users were quick to assume that Cersei was just straight up lying about Jaime being the father. Let's get something straight, Cersei confirmed to Jaime that he was the father, but that wasn't enough for these fans. One Twitter user raised a solid point that by telling Jaime that it was his child, Cersei still holds control over her brother.

Of course, we can't just go off of not liking Cersei as the reason to not believe her. (Technically, you can, but wait... there's more!) Remember Maggy the Frog's prophecy for Cersei? She was promised three kids (who would all die). She had three kids, who have all since died. So, where does this fourth child come from?

Moments before announcing her pregnancy, Jaime had met with his brother, Tyrion, and the two had a somewhat civilized conversation about the future and the throne. (As civilized as this show can be... basically, there were no deaths.) When Jaime relayed this to Cersei, she potentially could have felt like she was losing Jaime's loyalty, causing her to say one thing she knows (he has a track record) will keep him close. Another child.

The good news is, Cersei is going to have to own up to this moment in one way or another. It will be obvious if she doesn't have a child, so we'll just have to wait to see how this plays out. If she is lying, though, it could cause a major rift between her and Jaime.
