Jennifer Aniston's Reaction To Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt's Divorce Doesn't Matter

by Kate Ward

Where were you when you found out that Hollywood super-couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were divorcing? Me, I was over on Twitter, like the rest of media/celebrity obsessives, realizing that the whole of the internet had one collective question following the shocking news: What does Jennifer Aniston think of Angelina and Brad's divorce?

Oh, there were reaction gifs. There were reaction gifs aplenty. After all, Aniston gave Twitter plenty of mileage, thanks to the meme-able antics of Friends' Miss Rachel Green. But, so far, social media is the only one that's talking — Aniston herself has not yet issued comment about Jolie and Pitt's split. But, honestly, we shouldn't expect her to. Because it is 2016. Yes, a whole 11 years after Aniston and Pitt settled their own divorce after five years of marriage. And really, by now, we should be excluding Aniston from this tabloid-fueled narrative, Taylor-style, because it has nothing to do with the woman currently known as Jennifer Aniston, happily married successful actress. Poor Jen? I don't think so.

Aniston herself has been forced to react to her ex-husband's relationship as recently as January 2015, while speaking to press during her Cake press tour — a time when Jolie and Pitt's relationship had not even been the topic of a notable headline. (Even when only Aniston is in the news, she can't escape her previous relationship.) And, guess what? She barely reacted. "I don't find [our divorce] painful," she told CBS Sunday Morning. "I think it's a narrative that follows you because it's an interesting headline. It's more of a media-driven topic."

The question of the day on social media, though, isn't should she react, but will she react. And, chances are, sadly, she will have to — Aniston is a working actress, one who has three films slated for release, so it's likely another press tour will lead to yet another question about her previous relationship which, as we have noted, ended 11 years ago. (How would you like to have to talk about the high school boyfriend who dumped you to play Halo with his friends every time you met someone new?)

But, before the inevitable question comes her way, come on, people, let's be honest...

And that's why, today, at least, for now, Aniston's reaction is a very, very refreshing non-reaction.
