Jimmy Kimmel's Halloween Candy Challenge Doesn't Trick Every Kid This Year — VIDEO

by Jessica Ariel Wendroff

Another Halloween means another Jimmy Kimmel video. For the past six years, parents have been faking out their kids pretending to have eaten all their candy after some hardcore trick-or-treating. Then, parents send in their "Hey Jimmy Kimmel I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy" bits for all to see. In turn, viewers are granted access to watching little lips pout, and leaf-sized fists clench when they find out that all of their hard work was for nothing (even though the parents really don't eat all the candy). During the latest compilation, we watch again and again as kids get their hearts candy crushed. However, Jimmy Kimmel's Halloween candy challenge tricks some kids, but not all this year.

Most of the children completely lose it when they realize all of their hard work going door to door was for nothing. "I hate you! You ate all our candy that we worked so hard to get, we've been walking for HOURS!" a little girl shrills to her mother. I have little legs, so I feel her pain. Many eyes water, some rugrats fall to the floor (face-flat), others quiver their lips, trying to save face. Based off of the majority of reactions, telling a kid you ate their Halloween candy is obviously very painful, and very heart-wrenching.

One of the best reactions was from one little girl. "Are you mad at us?" her father asks. "No... how 'bout tomorrow I'll bring my bag" she forces out of her mouth as her tiny voice breaks "and we'll get some more candy." She tried so hard to be cool, but mom poured salt in her wound when saying the candy was "really yummy." The little girl finally reached an emotional breaking point, wiping her eye and turning away from the camera to gaze out of a window, she mutters "I bet it was really yummy." THE AGONY. THE HORROR. Someone give this poor kid the key to Willy Wonka's factory, stat!

A different little girl in the montage reacted authoritatively to the prank. "Next time we go trick-or-treating, you don't do that, OK?" she demands while pointing her index finger at dad "or I'll have to spank your butt and put you in your room in time out." This one must be an old soul. Others were less mature, getting violent with their parents, and throwing tantrums. "Wahhhhhhh, what the f-ck?!" little Jameson screamed as he flailed his feet while sporting a cute cap with ears.

But, there was something different with this batch of tricks. One mother informs her son of the pretend crime, but his response showed he wasn't easily fooled. "It's Jimmy Kimmel. It's Jimmy Kimmel...you're hiding my candy, I've seen this before. I've watched YouTube" he responds. And for the first time, the jig is up. See people, it's important to stay informed, doing so saves your heart from getting a cavity.

The last little girl shown takes the cake when it comes to forgiveness. After being told the bad news, she says "Are you kidding?" with a warm smile. "Well, I'm not mad. I'm not happy, but I, I, I still love you." Awww, I think she just gave me a sweet tooth. Talk about child goals.

All things considered, tricking these tots gave us all a treat. Until next Halloween, Jimmy Kimmel, you devil, you.
