Everything We Know About What Meghan Markle's Dream Wedding Dress *Could* Look Like

In case you've been living under a rock for the past 12 hours or so, Prince Harry and Megan Markle are engaged! Prince Harry actually popped the question earlier this month, however, official news of the engagement broke Monday morning. The prince, 33, and the Suits star, 36, will be walking down the aisle in Spring of 2018. Now, one of the most important question on everyone's mind is: What will the actress and soon-to-be royal be wearing on her big day? Megan Markle's wedding dress could be inspired by these designers according to what she's said in the past about her dream gown.

Prince Harry and Markle have been dating since July 2016, but weren't officially confirmed as a couple until October 2016, according to People. Just a few months prior, in March, Markle did an interview with Glamour regarding her Suits character, Rachel Zane, who had walked down the aisle in the Season 3 finale. In the episode, Markle’s character wore a “classic and fairy tale”-inspired gown by Anne Barge, People reported.

And apparently, this isn't too different from her own style. "Classic and simple is the name of the game, perhaps with a modern twist," Markle told Glamour, of her personal preference in wedding gowns. "I personally prefer wedding dresses that are whimsical or subtly romantic." Markle continued:

Delphine Manivet and Christos Costarellos are faves of mine for their uniqueness and beauty. And I will always be a fan of Ellie Saab. J. Mendel is spectacular as well, especially for more structural designs.

Markle also told People that her favorite celebrity wedding dress was worn by Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. "Everything goals," she told the publication.

So what did Carolyn Bessette's wedding gown look like, anyway? When she married John F. Kennedy Jr. back in 1996, Bessette wore a simple and now-iconic dress designed by Narciso Rodriguez. This $40,000 dress (which looked like a slip) was basically the antithesis of those puffy-sleeved, oversized-skirted wedding gowns from the '80s and early '90s, according to People.

Now that we have an idea of the type of dress Markle might have in mind, let's explore another crucial piece to the wedding dress puzzle: Which designer will manage to snag the coveted job? According to the Daily Mail, there's a list of potential designers who might be up for the challenge.

Erdem Moralioglu Could Very Well Be In The Running

Earlier this year, Markle wore a tropical printed maxi-dress from Erdem Moralioglu’s pre-Fall 2017 collection, according to The Telegraph. The occasion? She attended the wedding of a friend of Prince Harry's.

"The blue, green and yellow silk design, with ruffled sleeves and a high-neck, has a price tag of around £3,000," according to the Daily Mail . "She completed the look with her signature oversized sunglasses. Erdem's feminine flares and fondness of lace could be the perfect fit for a wedding dress."

Antonio Berardi Could End Up Creating The Royal Wedding Gown

The Daily Mail reported that Markle wore a sleeveless navy dress with a ruffled, asymmetrical skirt earlier this year from Berardi at the Audi Polo Challenge.

"She could then choose one of the designer's wedding dresses, which would be a less traditional look for a royal wedding but no less elegant," the publication speculates.

Or Could It Be Sarah Burton?

Sarah Burton was the creative genius behind Kate Middleton's dress for her 2011 wedding, according to the Daily Mail. (And more recently, Serena Williams wore a Sarah Burton while exchanging vows with.)

So Burton could very well be in the running for Markle's gown, if the bride-to-be decides to follow in her sister-in-law's footsteps.

Jenny Packham Could Be Another Option

"Packham's gowns are usually silhouette-skimming, feature a beaded bodice or laced sleeves, and often incorporate a touch of sparkle fit for a princess," The Telegraph reports.

Burberry Could Be On Markle's Short List

Since Markle's wardrobe already reportedly includes multiple pieces from Burberry, it would make sense. "The brand is not known for its wedding gowns and so she might be better off plumping for a more established bridal designer," the Daily Mail suggests.

As for me, I'm a definitely a fan of the Anne Barge wedding gown Markle wore on Suits (shown above). But whichever designer she ultimately goes with, one thing's for sure: Markle will be a stunning bride for the next royal wedding this coming spring!
