New 'Game Of Thrones' Trailer Has Everyone Worried For Their Favorite Characters

With the premiere of Season 6 drawing near, it was only a matter of time before HBO started rolling out even more new and exciting Game of Thrones trailers and teasers, to appease the hysterical masses. On Saturday, the network secured a coveted 30-second March Madness spot to air its most recent teaser, and much to the chagrin of loyal fans everywhere, the spot seemed to focus on one major theme: death. Specifically, one character's death in particular. (No, it's not Jon Snow, so stop asking.)

However, if you were hoping the show-runners would spill a few spoiler-y secrets that might shed light on exactly which character will be biting the dust by the end of the season, be prepared to be very, very disappointed: While the new trailer is, of course, an exciting, action-filled bit, it doesn't do much in the way of clearing up any big rumors or divulging any tantalizing details.

Instead, the 30-second spot covers all the familiar faces and gives viewers a little bit of a "where are they now" perspective on the impending season. Daenerys is shown walking among the group of Dothraki Bloodriders that took her captive at the ends of Season 5, as Drogon flies overhead, while Tyrion, still languishing in his position of power at Mereen, tries to figure out what the hell he's going to do next (glass of wine in hand, naturally). "Are you afraid?" Tyrion's voice narrates hauntingly, as the trailer opens. "You should be — you're in the great game now, and the great game is terrifying."

There are a few shots of Cersei and Jaime Lannister looking like the sad-faced emojis they are, Sansa running through the snow-covered forest (away from Ramsay Bolton and co.?), Arya white-eyed and out of her depths, and Bran coming face to face with the Night's King (a.k.a., the father of all White Walkers). Over the clamor of battle scenes and stampeding horses, the High Sparrow's voice can be heard, saying, "We are sinful creatures. We deserve death... we all do."

A few seconds later, as the camera pans across the candlelit Hall of Faces, Jaqen H'ghar (the OG Faceless Man) says coldly, "One way or another, the gift will be given. One way or another, a face will be added to the Hall."

While major character deaths aren't generally out of the norm on a show like Game of Thrones, hearing that any of the remaining crowd-favorites could reasonably up on the bloody chopping block is a little unsettling. For now, fans will have to steel their nerves and wait for the inevitable blast wave when Season 6 premieres on April 24. Tighten those seatbelts — this is going to be one bumpy ride, kids.
