People Are Totally Freaking Out Over Taylor Swift’s 'Reputation' Announcement

by Kenza Moller

After several days of cryptic social media posts, Taylor Swift is indeed back in action and it appears that she'll no longer be teasing us with those creepy snake videos. On Wednesday afternoon, Swift announced she'll be releasing her new album, Reputation, in just a few months and let fans know that the album's first single would drop by tomorrow night. And as you probably expected, the internet totally lost its cool.

After wiping her social media clean last week and posting a few mysterious snake videos (which sent the internet into a veritable tailspin), Swift shared some more telling posts on Twitter and Instagram on Wednesday.

Here's what we know so far: First of all, Swift's sixth album, Reputation, will be released on Nov. 10 of this year. Second, the first single from the album will be out by Thursday night. And third, Swift has some pretty wicked rebranding going on, complete with the menacing snake videos, dark lipstick, and chain choker.

Swift usually releases an album every two years, and it's now been nearly three years since Swift released 1989, so her fans are understandably excited about the announcement. In fact, "excited" is probably an understatement. Since there aren't really words that can accurately describe how people are feeling about Swift's Reputation news. So, let me just show you how the Twittersphere is reacting at the moment.

Some People Just Can't Contain Their Excitement

Others Aren't So Sure About Reputation's Cover Art

But Pretty Much Everyone Is Ready For Swift-Mania To Take Over Their Lives Again

Rumor has it that Swift's first single from the album will be called "Timeless." The song title already has its own Genius page, according to Elite Daily, and a "Timeless" website has been created with a landing page that simply reads, "Coming soon." Genius also currently has a listing for a second rumored Swift song, called "Had Nothing But a Time We Never Had," and the suspense is all a little much for Swift's fans.

In the last few months, Swift has virtually disappeared from public view, which has raised her fans' curiosity levels even further. (At one point, the public even thought Swift had snuck out of her New York apartment in a giant suitcase.)

But, without Swift giving interviews or speaking to fans about her upcoming work, the world has simply been left to wonder what Reputation will be about. Her feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian? A response to Katy Perry's "Swish Swish"? A comment on the court case she recently won? No one knows, which makes the world even more curious.

Personally, I don't think I'll be able to get much done until Swift's first Reputation single drops on Thursday night. And after that, to be honest, I probably won't be able to focus on anything else until after Nov. 10. Rest in peace, productivity — it was good knowing you.
