Peter Has Some Thoughts About The New 'Bachelor'

by Kathleen Walsh

So the next Bachelor was finally announced, but Bachelor Nation still isn't over Peter Kraus, the silver-haired personal trainer who won over our hearts throughout Rachel Lindsay's season of The Bachelorette. Sadly, Peter is not the next Bachelor, and a certain tweet suggests he regrets it. Peter's response about The Bachelor hints that he turned down the opportunity, and his fans are upset about it. (Romper has reached out to Peter for comment but has yet to hear back.)

I will probably never understand why celebrities (or anyone for that matter) post intentionally obscure messages on their social media accounts, apparently intended only to stir up speculation, outrage, or irritation from followers. Peter tweeted "Never let fear hold you back. Lesson learned." OK, great. Thanks for that deep piece of wisdom, Peter, but can't you just come out and say what you're trying to say without all of this vague suggestion?

Most people are assuming that this tweet refers to Peter being approached to be the next Bachelor. Perhaps he was too afraid to commit to the responsibility, and now he's learned the lesson of what happens when you let fear get the better of you. Or maybe it means something different altogether and Peter is just trying to mess with us — in which case, not cool, Peter.

In all fairness, I have to point out that he posted this message last night, well before ABC announced that the next Bachelor would be Arie Luyendyk Jr. So it's possible that this tweet wasn't even about The Bachelor announcement at all — though it seems unlikely.

Peter was the fan-favorite and runner-up on Rachel's season of The Bachelorette. Their relationship ended when Peter admitted to Rachel that he didn't feel ready to propose to her after their few months of intermittent courtship. I don't really blame him as a human person, but this is kind of the whole idea behind The Bachelor. According to a source from People, Peter's hesitancy to propose at the end of all of this was a major reason he was not selected to be the next lead, stating that the producers of the show were "in a full-blown panic mode."

Fans on Twitter also seem to be panicking slightly.

Since news broke of the new Bachelor, Peter has taken to Instagram (as so many celebs do) with a statement about his time on The Bachelorette and the undertone of the message definitely feels like he regrets not saying yes to being the Bachelor, but wants to remain in ABC's good graces potentially for next year. Here's a small blurb of the very lengthy sentiment:

When you let uncertainty or fear guide your decisions, you risk missing out on what could potentially be the greatest opportunity of a life time. So live dangerously, live without the fear of the unknown, and continue to live and love with a heart that is truly open to anything.

But you can read the message in its entirety on Peter's Instagram.

Well, ready or not America, this other guy with piercing blue eyes is about to be your next Bachelor. Maybe we'll all fall in love with him too. But I, for one, will never forget Peter.
