Prince's Last Tweets Show He Was Committed To His Music & His Fans Till The End

The legendary Minnesota-born recording artist Prince has died at age 57, according to TMZ. The singer was reportedly found at his Paisley Park compound early Thursday morning. Looking back at his Twitter timeline, you'd never guess that the artist was in distress; Prince's last tweet was a link to online retailer Electric Fetus, where his latest album, Hitnrun Phase Two, is up for sale (the site is having some understandable traffic issues, so be patient if the link doesn't load on the first try). The tweet was sent on April 18.

Prince had a "medical emergency" on April 15 that caused his private plane to make an emergency landing in Illinois, where he was rushed to the hospital, but the singer was back at a concert the next day. Reps reportedly told TMZ that he was only suffering from the flu. An official cause of death has yet to be announced.

Prior to the last tweet, Prince shared a link to his "Purple Pick of the Week," a curated series of music available on Tidal. The latest pick was an unreleased live version of his Grammy-nominated 2006 track, "Black Sweat." The singer never complained about his health.

Prince also tweeted a flyer for a dance party held at his compound on Saturday night, and later tweeted a photo of some attendees and his thanks to fans "4 UR EXTRA TIME & UR..." a nod to his 1986 hit, "Kiss." Other tweets include support for Record Store Day, and a photo of a new purple piano he seemed super excited about.

According to TMZ, Prince had been battling the flu for weeks — he canceled two shows on April 7 — but he was able to perform in Atlanta on April 14. His condition apparently worsened once he left the venue, causing the eventual detour to the hospital. While a cause of death hasn't been released yet, it seems that Prince didn't want his fans worrying about his health, and remained forever committed to sharing his music and love with his followers. He'll be missed.
