The Best "It’s Gonna Be May" Memes To Get You Psyched For Spring

by Jenn Rose

The best thing about the Internet is that there's truly something for everyone, and I do mean everyone. In the very center of the Venn diagram of meme enthusiasts, *NSYNC fans, and people looking forward to warmer weather lie the creators of the "It’s Gonna Be May" memes. The meme dates back to 2012, according to the good people at Know Your Meme (and they really do), and revolves around the misheard lyrics to *NSYNC's 2000 hit "It’s Gonna Be Me." What started with people pasting photos of Justin Timberlake over the April 30 space on their calendars exploded in popularity to the point where just a year later, YouTubers PassionateFriendTime created a full-length song and music video for "It’s Gonna Be May," and their dedication is just inspiring.

Most of us have had enough of the rain and snow, and even though spring brings with it itchy eyes, drippy noses, and a constant yellow film on every outdoor surface, almost everyone is ready for May. It's one of the best months of the year! I mean, the holidays alone — May has Star Wars Day, Free Comic Book Day, Mother's Day, and the premiere of Captain America: Civil War (yes, that is a holiday; stop asking questions). So go outside and gather a bouquet of daffodils and tulips to sacrifice to our lord, Justin Timberlake, as we celebrate May, meme-style.

The Original

Pretty self-explanatory, but this is the Internet, and we can't just let something be.

The Ken Doll

Am I the only one who's hypnotized by that hair?

Pranking Your Coworkers

Do you see the beauty of this? The picture is hidden when you paste it there in March. Then, on the first day of April, aka April Fool's Day, some poor schlub goes to change the calendar and finds Justin. It's a month-long prank!

The Song

The costumes! The choreography! How much time, effort, and cash went into this video? It's amazing, and it should be named the official theme song of April.

The Mash-Up

For some reason, I find the complete lack of effort charming. Just me?

This Terrifying Mess

Doc Ock plus Ken doll times Justin Timberlake divided by misheard lyrics equals whaaaaat am I watching make it stop please.

Enough Already

Are you sick of this yet? Because Jules Winnfield is.

But It's Cosigned By Justin

Oversaturation? Maybe a little. But don't worry about offending Justin by sharing these memes. He gets it, people. He gets it.
