Daenerys May Be Azor Ahai According To These 'Game Of Thrones' Theories

by Chrissy Bobic

After six seasons of waiting for some of the big characters to meet some of the even bigger ones, it looks like Season 7 of Game of Thrones is about setting up several different alliances and armies for the big wars ahead, and really, it’s about time. So when Melisandre finally arrived at Dragonstone to meet Daenerys, it sparked plenty of Daenerys Azor Ahai theories on Game of Thrones that prove the Dragon Queen may be the "prince who was promised."

While fans have theorized for years that Jon Snow is going to be the reborn prince to defend the world against the White Walkers, the possibility of Daenerys being Azor Ahai just sent that previously ironclad theory into a tailspin. According to Melisandre, the prophecy states that Azor Ahai will be reborn through smoke and salt in order to fight the White Walkers. Since Dragonstone, Daenerys’ birthplace, is built on a volcanic island (smoke) that provides the much-needed dragonglass and is surrounded by the sea (salt), signs are now pointing to Daenerys being the prince or princess who was promised.

This is the first Daenerys even heard of the prophecy though and with Jon on his way to Dragonstone and Melisandre also working with Daenerys, the true Azor Ahai will be revealed soon enough. Until then, these Daenerys Azor Ahai theories are enough to totally change the minds of some Game of Thrones fans who may have been almost positive that Jon was the one.

There Was Something Lost In Translation

Count on Daenerys’ loyal friend Missandei to totally change things in such a major way on Game of Thrones. When Melisandre came to Dragonstone to explain to Daenerys the prophecy about Azor Ahai, the prince who was promised, Missandei cleared something up about the translation of High Valyrian.

She informed Daenerys that there’s no distinct noun to differentiate between genders for the word "prince" or "princess," meaning that the prophecy could be about a prince or princess, making it entirely possible for Daenerys to be the one Melisandre has been looking to support all these years.

Daenerys Will Become The Night Queen

In Azor Ahype’s YouTube video, he points out that Sam and Gilly at the Citadel have everything to do with uncovering the truth behind this particular Daenerys Azor Ahai theory. One of Gilly’s books is titled The Legends of the Long Night and on the cover is a Night King, though he looks like more a feminine skeletal being who could be a Night Queen instead.

Remember Daenerys’ vision back in Season 2 in the House of the Undying? There was a lot of bits and pieces to what she was seeing, sure, but there was a lso a lot of snow and at one point, part of her vision had her walking through the gate that separates the other side of The Wall and the tunnel that leads to Castle Black. What if she saw herself in the North because that’s where she’s meant to go, if only to become the Night Queen as one final sacrifice and to basically save everyone?

She Might Just Help Jon Reach His Full Potential

Now that Melisandre told Daenerys about the legend of Azor Ahai, instead of Daenerys realizing that she herself is the prince (or princess) who was promised, she might come to the conclusion that Jon fits the build a lot more once they meet. I refuse to believe that Jon and Daenerys’ meeting will be a simple of exchange of some of that precious dragonglass.

Instead, it’s a possibility that Daenerys will realize that Jon is Azor Ahai, as fans have theorized for years, and alert him of the prophecy with Melisandre’s help. That, or she’ll sentence him to death by dragons and be all like, "whaaat?" when he emerges from the flames, unharmed and stark naked.

With the rate of speed that Season 7 of Game of Thrones is going, now more than ever is the time to consider that Daenerys might not only be Azor Ahai, but that we could find out before the season is over the truth behind a lot of questions fans have had for several reasons.
