This Mom's Story About Buying Her Daughter A Poster Board Is So Relatable It Hurts

by Gillian Walters

If you're a parent of a school-aged child, there's a good chance you have bought school supplies for your kid last minute. Unless your kid is a meticulous type-A personality (congrats), you've probably spent precious hours of your day frantically searching the aisles of Target for some super specific felt tip pen or special type of glue, because project supply lists are always wondrously complicated, especially when you're on a time crunch. Now that the school year is in full swing and teachers have begun assigning projects, exhausted parents everywhere will appreciate this mom's story about a poster board fail.

On Tuesday, a mom by the name of Rachael Pavlik, aka Rach Riot, took to Facebook to share a hilarious story about the trials and tribulations of buying her daughter a poster board for school. The Facebook rant started off in a predictable and seemingly innocent way — Pavlik's daughter revealed she needed a white poster board for school the next day. The problem? Pavilk's daughter made the request... at 9 p.m.. As one might expect, the exchange quickly dissolved into hysterics as Pavlik's daughter turned the poster board into a situation of utter desperation. There's nothing more earth shattering than forgetting you need a poster board for school, right?

Pavlik explained, according to Facebook:

Mom I need a posterboard. What? I need a posterboard! For tomorrow! Well it's 9 PM! When in the hell were you planning on telling me?! I DON'T KNOW! Great. Yeah! I need it now! For tomorrow! I have to have it! *sob* Well go look in the playroom for some. We don't have anyyy! *sniffle* I need a white posterboooaaard!

Although she was annoyed by the situation, Pavlik did what most moms would do — she caved and went to CVS to buy the dang poster board.

Pavlik wrote, according to Facebook:

Omg I go to CVS. No white poster board. Go to 2nd store Buy the white poster board. Here's your white poster board. Oh thank you! Thank you. I love you. You're the best mama! Yeah. I know I am. Go to sleep. I love you. *MORNING Don't forget your white poster board. Here's your poster board. Roll it up with this rubber band-Be careful with the poster board. Time for the bus Bye bye love you best day ever. Kiss kiss. *Kids walk around the corner to the bus stop.I'm so glad she got her poster board. Whew. Crisis averted.

If you're thinking this story sounds too perfect to be true, you're right. It turns out Pavlik's daughter forgot the coveted poster board at the freaking bus stop, because of course:

I'm winning at this mom thing. Yay me. Hero. I'm the best. I'm going to go on a walk today. Beautiful day feeling good. Stretch. I'm walking. Turn the corner. where the bus stop is. Bus came. Kids are gone. Everyone gone. Except this This. HER G@#%!?#% POSTER BOARD.

Yep. If you're screaming right now, you are having the appropriate reaction to this poster board fail.

Oh, and if you're wondering if Pavlik drove to her daughter's school to give back the poster board, the answer is pretty amazing. Pavlik tells Romper:

OH HELL NO I didn't drive it to school. Hahahaha. This is not my first rodeo. Does that make me a mean mom? Maybe. It's called a teachable moment. My kids hate my teachable moments. I gave it to her when she got home. The teacher said it was fine to bring it the next day. We had a good laugh.

It sounds like Pavlik made the right move here. At the end of the day, this is not some plot from Taken — this is a story about a white poster board. Pavlik's daughter eventually got the poster board back, and all of the parties involved ended up OK. That all being said, may the force be with all of the parents who will end up making a late-night trip to CVS this school year.
