This New Detail About Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively Will Make You Adore Them Even More

by Gillian Walters

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's marriage is admirable on so many levels, especially now that they're navigating parenting together. Each time Reynolds or Lively does an interview, there's typically some amazing nugget of information about their two daughters and how they parent as a team. Well, buckle up, because this new detail about Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's communication skills will make you love them even more.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Sunday, Reynolds provided some insight into his hilarious parenting tweets. As any fan of Reynolds knows, he regularly tweets sarcastic and witty one-liners about his daughters and his life as a dad. Considering Reynolds' tweets don't necessarily fall in the realm of typical dad jokes (no shame towards good ol' fashioned dad jokes, by the way), it's reasonable to wonder if he gets the OK from Lively before he hits send, especially since he has millions of followers. As you might have already expected, Reynolds told ET that he checks in with Lively before he broadcasts his parenting tweets to the world. Reynolds said, according to Entertainment Tonight:

Some of the ones about our daughter or parenting ones or [with] advice no one should take, I run past her, in case she objects. Otherwise it's mostly stuff done on like, an airplane, flying somewhere.

If you're a parent, you understand why it's important for Reynolds to get consent from Lively before he publicly speaks about their children. Although Reynolds tweets are just jokes at the end of the day, parenting is a team effort and each parent's voice deserves to be heard and respected. The fact that Reynolds takes the extra step to get approval from Lively proves he values her opinion as a mother and it also demonstrates the strength of their communication as partners.

Better yet, Lively and Reynolds share the same values as parents. Being on the same parenting page is crucial, especially when it concerns the privacy of your children. Despite the public nature of their acting careers, Reynolds and Lively both deeply value privacy for their kids. Lively said, according to Marie Claire UK:

My husband and I chose a profession and a side effect of that is, your personal life is public. Our child hasn't had the opportunity to choose whether or not she wants her personal life to be public or not. So in order to give her as much normality as possible, we want her to have a childhood like we had.

If you scan through Reynolds tweets, you'll notice his messages don't reveal any personal information about his daughters. Furthermore, Reynolds has never shared a picture of his kids to Twitter (although Reynolds and Lively did bring the girls to his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in December 2016, where lots of cute photos were taken). It's clear Reynolds and Lively had discussions about privacy concerns before or shortly after they had children, and their open communication appears to be working in their favor.

Obviously, this anecdote about Reynolds and Lively isn't meant to shame parents who share photos and information about their children on social media. Social media can be amazing, and it's a great way to keep loved ones updated on your kids' lives. The takeaway here is that Reynolds and Lively are on the same page about social media, and they clearly respect one another. Having mutual respect is not only important for a marriage, but it's crucial for raising children.
