Trump's Mika Brzezinski Tweet Is So Gross

by Jenn Rose

President Donald Trump renewed an old feud on Thursday, because running the country apparently wasn't enough to keep him occupied. In his all-too-predictable morning Twitter tirade, Trump claimed that Mika Brzezinski was bleeding from a face lift while lightly stalking him last winter. Take a moment to digest that, if you need. The target of his ire is rather predictable; she's not only a long-time Twitter rival, but also a member of the news media, his most recent victim of choice. Still, these particular claims are rather odd, to put it mildly.

"I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don't watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came ... to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year's Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!" the leader of the free world wrote in a pair of tweets, sent a full six minutes apart. Name-calling and shoddy construction aside, it's quite an accusation. Two lunatics, one covered in blood, begging to spend time with Trump, then President-elect, for days on end. Seems a bit far-fetched. Brzezinski retorted with a sub-tweet so shady, it'll give you chills.

Brzezinski's tweet echoed a decades-old insult originally coined by Vanity Fair's Graydon Carter. Trump has long refuted the notion that his hands are below-average size, despite extensive research by The Hollywood Reporter showing that they are, in fact, comparatively small for a man of his stature. The tweet underscores Trump's fixation on women's appearance while simultaneously seeming insecure with any criticism of his own looks. Could this be an attempt to distract from the recently-unearthed unflattering photos of Trump in his tennis whites?

The more likely explanation is that it's yet another attempt to discredit the media that exposes hard truths about the Trump administration. This week alone, he's lobbed attacks at CNN, The New York Times, and the Washington Post. In doing so, CNN reported, he's repeatedly "mangled the facts." Sources told the network that Trump did actually grant Scarborough and Brzezinski a private meeting at his Florida resort during the time in question, and photos "do not show any blood or bandages on Brzezinski's face." The timing of the tweets also strongly contradict the claim that Trump no longer watches Morning Joe, as Raw Story has reported that Thursday morning's episode featured sharp criticism of the administration by both hosts, with Brzezinski impying that the president is "out of his mind." These tweets don't exactly help his case.
