TV Marathons To Watch This Thanksgiving When You're Too Stuffed To Move

by Zakiya Jamal

Although the holidays are a great time to catch up with family and friends and eat some good food, it’s also a great time to catch up on all of your favorite shows. Besides the plethora of options available on streaming sites like Hulu and Netflix, cable networks will also be providing some TV marathons to watch this Thanksgiving.

Whether you’re looking for something to put on to keep the kids busy while you cook or you want to bask in the nostalgia of watching some of your old favorite TV shows, there’s a little bit of everything on TV for you to watch this holiday season. Starting early in the day, cable and broadcast networks will be having marathons throughout the day, all the way to Thanksgiving night. Plus, even if there’s some overlap between your favorite shows, you can always use your DVR, so you can marathon what you miss later.

So grab your plate of turkey and stuffing or some pumpkin pie, get comfortable on the couch, and binge watch your favorite TV series. Check out what’s playing on this turkey day below and make sure to plan your schedule accordingly. Hopefully, you won’t have to fight with your family over the remote. (Please note that all of these listed times are EST.)

NCIS (All Day, beginning at 5 a.m., Oxygen)

Watch Gibbs, Abby, McGee, and the rest of the crew try to solve cases, while also getting into their only hilarious messes and hijinks on the job.

Star Trek & Star Trek: Voyager (All Day beginning at 6 a.m., BBC)

Before there was Star Trek: Discovery, there was the original Star Trek and Star Trek: Voyager (amongst a number of other iterations of the popular series). So gather all your Trekkies, and enjoy the good old days with Spock and Captain Kirk.

Teen Titan Go! (6 a.m. to 3 p.m., Cartoon Network)

If you’ve got kids in the house, you’re probably familiar with Teen Titans Go! The superhero-based cartoon is a hilarious and fun take on the comics, and your kid will have a blast watching it all day long.

Chrisley Knows Best (All Day, beginning at 6 a.m., USA)

If you can't spend the day with your family, spend it with the Chrisley family as they get into their usual family squabbles and ridiculous situations. It'll be a day filled with laughs.

Martin (8 a.m. to 4 p.m., BET)

This classic ‘90s sitcom still brings all the laughs whenever it’s airing. Thus, if you’re looking for a good time on Thanksgiving, make sure to tune in for this marathon, filled with nostalgic fun.

The Godfather I & II (All Day, beginning at 9 a.m., AMC)

These classic mobster films stand the test of time, so whether you've already seen them or never watched the movies before, now's the perfect time to check them out.

South Park (All day beginning at 9 a.m., Comedy Central)

Hang out with Stan and the gang on Thanksgiving and give in to the dark humor that has made the show so iconic over the last 20 years.

ER (11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Pop)

Before there was Grey's Anatomy, there was ER, and before there was a McDreamy there was George Clooney. Whether you've never seen it or just want to relive the good old days, ER is a great series to watch any time of the year.

Last Man Standing (1 p.m. to 8 p.m., CMT)

Tim Allen is a master at comedy and proves it in this popular sitcom, where he plays Mike Baxter, the last man standing in his family filled with women. If you'e never seen it, this is the perfect time to give it a chance.

Friends (1 p.m. to 6 p.m., TBS)

Is it really Thanksgiving if you don't watch all the Thanksgiving episodes of Friends? No, definitely not. And while you could watch the episodes on Netflix, there's just something about watching it on the TV with commercials that feels right.

As you can see, you have a lot of options to choose from, which is yet another thing to be grateful for this time of the year. Now go forth and binge!
