What Do Mary Kate And Ashley Olsen Think Of 'Fuller House'? They Don't Want To Guest Star

Ever since the Netflix's Full House sequel was announced, fans have been busy predicting which characters from the original cast will make an appearance and what their lives, in the present day, will look like. Now that Fuller House is streaming, many of those questions are answered. Though many maintain that the iconic twins will make a surprise appearance, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have said they will not be taking part in the show. But, what do Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen think of Fuller House?

According to People, the Olsens' reasoning for refusing to appear on the show was that they just aren't actresses anymore. Mainly, it was that their careers have changed so much, and at this point in their lives they no longer see themselves as actresses. Ashley said, "I have not been in front of a camera since I was 17, and I don't feel comfortable acting." Executive Producer Bob Boyett reported that "Mary-Kate said, 'It would have to be me because Ash doesn't want to do it. But the timing is so bad for us.'" The two have been extremely busy running two successful fashion lines, The Row and Elizabeth and James. In a very public display of passive aggression, Fuller House used the twins' actual excuse for not being in the first episode. The Olsens' character, Michelle, doesn't attend her family reunion because, apparently, she is busy in New York running her fashion label. Read: she's too good for us, I guess!

John Stamos, who is reprising his role as Uncle Jesse, as well as being a producer on the new show, said "Lori [Loughlin] was talking to me about the twins and said, 'They just won a CFDA award.' And I'm like, 'Yeah, that's like winning an Oscar.' It was them and Tom Ford. I get where they're at." In short, they are busy with their lives, so even a cameo was off the table. The cast that did return has made it clear there are no hard feelings. Their on-screen dad, Bob Saget, told E! News, "I'm friends with both of them, I love them a lot and they just didn't really want to act that much, that's not what they do. It would be fun if the show is a success, comes back and then they could show up. I don't know." He repeated, for good measure, "They will do what they want and I love them a lot."

As for their opinions of the show, Stamos maintained that they were excited about the idea. He told E! News, "They seemed…they were very, very sweet. They seemed very into it. They just were afraid of acting." In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Boyett said, "I appreciate their support and good wishes towards Fuller House." The Olsens' have not shared their opinion of the show since it's aired, but their support was clear. Despite their initial refusal (and the serious digs the writers took at them in the first episode), it seems like the producers are holding out hope that they might agree to make an appearance, however brief, in Season 2.
