'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 5 Can't Get Here Soon Enough

by Zakiya Jamal

New York's favorite cops are coming back for a fifth season! The popular FOX comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which stars Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg, got renewed for Season 5 and fans couldn't be more excited. So when does Brooklyn Nine-Nine return for Season 5? Though the exact return date hasn't been announced just yet, fans can expect to see the show come back in all its glory sometime in the fall of this year.

Though Brooklyn Nine-Nine has moved around on FOX's lineup since it first began to air, the series will continue to air on Tuesdays for it's fifth season, though it'll be at a slightly later time slot. According to the official fall schedule that FOX has released, the show will air at 9:30 p.m. ET on Tuesdays, and based on when the show has premiered in the past, it seems safe to bet it will return in mid-September. In fact, Sept. 19 would probably be a good guess.

That means fans probably won't have to wait more than a few months before they're reunited with their favorite precinct, which is great because after Tuesday's one hour finale, fans will probably be begging for more. The two-part finale will be filled with twists and turns as well as the level of hilarity viewers have to come to love from the show.

Series co-creator Dan Goor told Entertainment Weekly during a recent interview that the stakes will be high in the finale. "An undercover mission goes south, causing Jake and Rosa's entire worlds to come crumbling down around them," he said. "It puts their careers and lives in jeopardy. Serious jeopardy."

Lt. Hawkins, who both Jake and Rose admired and wanted to work for, is a dirty cop and now Jake and Rose will have to figure out what to do about that unfortunate information. Part of their plan will include pretending they're dirty cops themselves and partaking in some criminal activity. The two will turn to Captain Holt and Rosa's boyfriend Adrian Pimento for some help.

At the same time, Gina will find herself sharing a few secrets and somehow ending up in a love affair with professional snowboarder Milton, played by guest star Ryan Phillippe. Additionally, one of those secrets Gina lets loose will impact her relationship with Boyle, who will look a bit different in the episode.

"Charles becomes so worried, his hair turns completely white as he becomes wheelchair bound," Goor said about the character's new look.

Other characters' secrets will also be revealed throughout the hour and it's clear this is a finale you won't want to miss.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine airs on Tuesday at 8 p.m. on FOX.
