'Doctor Who' Season 10 Needs To Get Here ASAP

Is it just me or does it feel like it's been ages since we last checked in with our favorite time-traveling Doctor? Luckily, that's all about to change thanks in large part to the Doctor Who Christmas special "The Return of Doctor Mysterio," which will air at 9 p.m. (ET) on BBC. But as exciting as this latest adventure is bound to be, fans will undoubtedly be curious as to when Doctor Who Season 10 will premiere? Unfortunately, we still have quite the long wait ahead of us I'm afraid. I'm talking you're going to wish you had a TARDIS handy in order to get there faster.

While no official premiere date has been released, Peter Capaldi (who plays the iconic Time Lord) reportedly let it slip to a fan that the series would be back in April 2017. "We’re on at Christmas, and then it starts again in April," he stated. So unless things have changed since then, viewers will still have four whole months to go before catching another glimpse of that blue police box. (I hear it's bigger on the inside.) Is that disappointing? Of course it is, but that should only make us appreciate the Christmas special even more, especially since it's going to be an hour and a half installment of wibbly wobbly, timey-wimey madness.

What makes Season 10 even more special though is that it will serve as showrunner Steven Moffatt's final season with the series. So you just know it's going to be an unforgettable ride. (Not that it isn't always that way when it comes to the Doctor.) But that isn't the only important aspect of the tenth season. As I'm sure most of you are aware by now, the Doctor is getting a new companion named Bill, played by Pearl Mackie. And considering how crucial the companions are to the Doctor's storyline, I'm very excited to see what she's like and how her relationship with the Time Lord will compare to that of her predecessors. And since she won't be appearing in the Christmas special, Season 10 will be the first time we'll see this brand new character in action.

Basically, what I'm trying to say here is that there are a lot of reasons to get excited for the upcoming season. So even though we still have a long road ahead of us, rest assured that it'll all be well worth the wait. I mean, has the Doctor ever let us down before?
