Anthony From 'The Bachelorette' Has A Big Heart

by Chrissy Bobic

Since it’s next to impossible for viewers to get to meet and enjoy every single guy on night one, there are always those contestants on The Bachelorette who don’t get screentime very early, but who are actually more deserving of it than some of them. Enter Anthony, who actually seems like one of the more genuine suitors this season. So maybe he just doesn’t bring enough drama yet. But who is Anthony from The Bachelorette exactly?

The education software manager might not be a huge focus yet this season, but he definitely seems like he has a big heart in the real world. He works for a company called EverFi, which offers courses involving STEM, African-American history, digital citizenship, alcohol abuse education, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. But before that, Anthony spent nine months as an English teaching assistant fellow for the Fulbright U.S. Student program. During his fellowship, he taught students in the Ivory Coast and in 2014 he spent four months as an English language instructor in Indonesia. So he’s definitely well traveled, but for the sake of doing good rather than zip-lining in the tropics.

Anthony is back home in Chicago now, working as an education software manager, but on his Instagram, he’s said he plans to go back overseas and teach again eventually.

According to Anthony’s Instagram, the Bachelorette contestant is also a proud uncle and while that definitely shows off his big heart even more, it’s basically just adorable.

The Northwestern University alum graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts with studies in English Literature and philosophy, but unfortunately on the season premiere of The Bachelorette, viewers didn’t get to learn that about him. Actually, we weren’t able to learn much, given that Lucas the "whaboom" guy and Bryan the amazing kisser guy kind of stole the show. But he made it to the second episode, so that must mean Anthony did something right in Rachel’s eyes.

Besides teaching English and looking adorable with a Baby Bjorn strapped to him, Anthony is also apparently into fitness, but not necessarily weight lifting to the extreme. There are plenty of photos on Anthony’s Instagram of him doing yoga and — wait for it — aerial yoga. So he’s pretty well-rounded.

And according to his Bachelorette bio, Anthony's ideal mate is pretty close to Rachel. When asked about his ideal mate’s personality, he answered: "Curious. Able to laugh at silly things, but also hold her own in an intellectual conversation." Even though we haven’t seen much of Anthony yet on The Bachelorette, the season’s overall promo features him quite a bit, so maybe once the camera-hungry guys are weeded out, fans will be able to get a better look at contestants like Anthony.
