Who Is Beyoncé's Doctor?

by Keiko Zoll

Ever since Beyoncé descended from the heavens and Instragrammed to the world back in February that she will be the bearer of twins, the world has looked to the Queen Bey with rapt attention, waiting for the inevitable amazing news that her twin babies have finally arrived. After the birth of Blue Ivy, some have wondered who is Beyoncé's doctor, and whether or not she'll go with the same doc once the Knowles-Carter twins grace the world with their demi-divine presence.

Thanks to patient privacy laws, it's not like Beyoncé's OB-GYN can hop into the hot seat of any entertainment show and announce his or her role to the world. And Beyoncé has been virtually silent with details about her pregnancy, just as she was when she was pregnant with Blue Ivy. But what's different this time is that Beyoncé has released a ton of pregnancy photos — and of course, they're all stunning.

When Beyoncé gave birth to Blue Ivy, she took over an entire maternity wing of the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City to the tune of $1.3 million. Now that it's baby times two for the 30-year-old singer, will she rent out the entire facility? And who's going to be catchin' those babies?

While the world waits for the birth of Beyoncé's twins, it's clear that her doctor — or team of doctors — has played a more prominent role in her pregnancy this time around. In February, Beyoncé had to back out of Coachella on doctors' orders. In a statement to the Associated Press, Beyoncé's label explained the decision, made to the conflicted disappointment of fans — on the one hand, they had paid to see Beyoncé. But on the other hand, she's got to do everything she can to take care of that precious cargo.

Following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months, Beyonce has made the decision to forgo performing at the 2017 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.

While Beyoncé's due date might be sometime in June, in truth, her twins could be born any time now. While singletons are considered full term at 40 weeks, twins are considered full term at just 37 weeks. And given that she is carrying multiples, she may have a greater need for an obstetrician who specializes in maternal-fetal medicine. Just looking at the number of OB-GYNs affiliated with Lenox Hill Hospital, there are more than 100 possible doctors who could be Beyoncé's, according to the U.S. News & World Report.

Even though fans might not know who Beyoncé's doctor is, we know that he, she, or they will take care of and treat Queen Bey like the goddess she is.
