Holden's Mom On 'Beyond' Is Not New To TV

by Zakiya Jamal

With the new year comes new shows and Freeform's throwing their hat in the ring with their new mystery drama, Beyond. The show follows the story of Holden Matthews (Burkely Duffield), a young man who awakes from a 12 year coma with new abilities he can't explain. The show also centers around Holden's family, which includes his father, Tom, his younger brother, Luke, and his mom, Diane. Although Beyond is filled with a great cast, viewers will probably take notice of Diane because this is not her first major role in a TV show. So who plays Holden's mom on Beyond? Actress Romy Rosemont fills the role.

Most viewers will recognize the actress as Finn's mom, Carole Hudson-Hummel, on Glee. Fans watched Rosemont's character fall in love with Kurt's dad and even marry him in the second season. Carole was known for her bouts of wisdom and her unconditional love of both Finn and Kurt. But that by far isn't her only big name credit.

Rosemont also played Dean Berber in the Hulu original series, Resident Advisors. Additionally, she's had various recurring roles on Secrets and Lies, The People v. O. J. Simpson, Scandal, Silicon Valley, The Fosters, Justified, Swingtown, Brothers & Sisters, and Prison Break. Rosemont has also appeared in the films Miles, Martyrs, Much Ado About Nothing, Little Women, Big Cars, The Avengers, and Kung Fu Panda 2. So basically, she's everywhere and is bound to help make Beyond a must-see show.

Acting alongside Rosemont is Michael McGrady who plays her on-screen husband, Tom, and Jonathan Whitesell as Luke, her other son. The show also stars Dilan Gwyn as Willa, a beautiful stranger that seems to know more about what happened to Holden than Holden remembers himself. Also starring in the series are Jordan Calloway, Patrick Sabongui, and Jeff Pierre.

Beyond's two hour series premiere will air on Monday, Jan. 2 at 9 p.m. ET, but in a network first, all 10 episodes of the first season will also be available online that very same day. You will be able to find the episodes on the Freeform app, Freeform.com, On Demand, and Hulu. So whether you want to watch the show week to week or just binge watch the whole series in one sitting, you have plenty of options. Just make sure you definitely check this show out. It may just be Freeform's biggest hit of the new year and go above and beyond expectations. (See what I did there?)
