David Schwimmer & Zoe Buckman Have Split

by Kenza Moller

As we all learned from Friends, sometimes couples just have to take a break — and that's exactly what former Friends star David Schwimmer and his wife, photographer Zoe Buckman, are currently doing, according to Us Weekly. But why did Schwimmer and Buckman split? The couple didn't share details with the media, understandably, but they told Us Weekly that they're taking "some time apart" as they figure out what's next for them.

The couple have been married for nearly seven years now, and together for more than 10. They're also parents to five-year-old Cleo, who was born in 2011. In a statement to Us Weekly, Schwimmer and Buckman said:

It is with great love, respect and friendship that we have decided to take some time apart while we determine the future of our relationship. Our priority is, of course, our daughter's happiness and well being during this challenging time, and so we ask for your support and respect for our privacy as we continue to raise her together and navigate this new chapter for our family.

Buckman, 31, and Schwimmer, 50, have always kept their relationship pretty private, so there's no saying exactly why they've decided to split ways. However, at least it sounds like they're trying to make the transition a smooth process for their daughter and to keep things as friendly as possible.

Despite the split, Schwimmer has been keeping busy. Just two days ago, a short video series called #ThatsHarassment, which he acted in and helped produce, launched. The series of six video show subtle moments in which regular, day-to-day exchanges shift from normal to instances of harassment. Speaking of the videos, Schwimmer told Cosmopolitan, "Every woman in my family, in my life, has been harassed, except my daughter, thank god, who’s only 6."

Schwimmer also talked about Trump and said he found the president's "Grab them by the pussy" comment from a previous interview hard to defend. "I found his boasting of committing sexual assault really disturbing," he told Cosmopolitan. "I think our leaders have to demonstrate a certain kind of character. When I think about my daughter, I find that difficult to explain."

When the series came out on Monday, Buckman shared a photo of the project on Instagram and wrote, "Incredibly proud of this guy, and all the talented artists who worked on a series of short films about sexual harassment... #thatsHarassment drops today and is both powerful and painfully relatable."

It's clear that no matter what comes next for Schwimmer and Buckman, they've got Cleo's best interests in mind — and they're working hard to make the world a better place for their daughter.
