Zutano Recalls Infant Booties

Most parents are fans of baby booties, I think. They keep your little one's feet warm, they look adorable, and they make it harder for babies to pull off their socks and magically lose them. Well, if you've bought baby booties, you might want to give them a once over after reading this article. Because Massachusetts-based company Zutano Global Inc. has recalled 38,000 baby booties.

The fleece booties with little Z-shaped grippers on the soles were sold online and in stores across America between May 2016 and Mar. 2017. The booties were made exclusively for sizes 12M and 18M. According to the statement Zutano released in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the "non-slip rubber grips on the bottom of the booties can detach, posing a choking hazard."

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled booties, take them away from children and contact the firm for a full refund in the form of a merchandise credit.

Romper reached out to Zutano Global Inc. for comment and is awaiting a reply.

The New Bedford company sold these Infant Cozie booties in several outlets throughout the country as well as online through Amazon.com and Zutano.com. They retailed between $22 and $24 per pair.

So far, Zutano reported two incidences of infants having the detached rubber "Z" grips in their mouths. They have urged customers to return the booties for a full refund. These non-slip infant booties were made in a total of 13 colors: hocolate, gray, heather gray, hot pink, pool (aqua), apple (light green), cream, fuchsia, lime, mandarin, navy, pagoda (turquoise blue), and periwinkle, as well as multi-colors. To find out whether or not the booties you may have purchased for your infant are part of the recall, check the tracking number which is found on the other side of the care label. On their website, Zutano told customers they could expect a replacement version of the Infant Cozie booties in the near future.

We are currently working on a new and improved version of our beloved gripper booties that includes a more secure and adhesive gripper design. We expect to have these in stock some time this summer.
