Will Ivanka Move to DC? She Will Be A Highly Visible First Daughter

Ivanka Trump has been one of her father's most effective surrogates throughout his campaign for president. Now that he's ready to assume office, many are speculating it's Ivanka, rather than relatively camera shy Melania, that will assume many of the responsibilities traditionally left to the First Lady. Will Ivanka move to D.C.? She might spend a lot of time there, but her life will largely remain in New York City.

Ivanka has been named to Trump's transition team, according to the Washington Post, but as an executive vice president of the Trump Organization along with her brothers, Donald Jr. and Eric, and as the head of her own brand, she has plenty of business back in New York City to keep her busy.

"I’m going to be a daughter," Ivanka said on a recent 60 Minutes interview about her role in her father's administration, according to Us Magazine. "But I’ve said throughout the campaign that I am very passionate about certain issues. And that I want to fight for them."

He added that she won't be taking a job in the White House.

"Wage equality, childcare," Ivanka said, Us reported. "These are things that are very important to me. I’m very passionate about education. Really promoting more opportunities for women. So, you know there are a lot of things that I feel deeply, strongly about. But not in a formal administrative capacity.”

There's also speculation it's Ivanka, rather than Melania, who will assume much of the role of First Lady and was described in a Vanity Fair article as Trump's "proxy wife." Weird.

In addition to the influence Ivanka will undoubtedly have, it's Jared Kushner, her husband, who has become one of President-elect Trump's closest, and most trusted advisers, according to Politico. Bloomberg recently reported it was Kushner who saw to it that Chris Christie was booted from the Trump transition team as payback for Christie jailing Kushner's father for tax evasion and illegal campaign donations during his time as U.S. Attorney for the state of New Jersey.

Between Ivanka and Kushner, the two will undoubtedly have plenty of business in Washington D.C. even if they don't live there full time. Besides, anytime they want to visit, the Trump's have their own hotel just blocks away from the White House. You remember that opening right? When Trump used the election to trick the press into broadcasting a free commercial for his new hotel?

But regardless of where Ivanka calls "home," you can bet Trump's favorite daughter will be on hand for plenty of White House photo ops. Maybe she'll even use the White House to sell her clothes and jewelry, just like she did when she sat down with 60 Minutes to talk about her father becoming leader of the free world. Here's the tweet her jewelry company sent out trying to hawk her wares following an election that has many Americans in fear for their safety.

But, you know, accessories! Yep, we'll be seeing a lot more Ivanka in the months and years to come.
