Ramona Singer May Need To Hang Up Her 'RHONY' Hat

No one Real Housewife's journey is drama-free on any given season, but Ramona Singer is coming off particularly poorly on Season 9 of Real Housewives of New York. From "forgetting" a vicious tirade toward Bethenny Frankel caught on camera, to subsequently destroying a room of Dorinda Medley's Berkshires home because she couldn't figure out how to turn the lights off, Ramona seems disconcertingly destructive this season. Sure, wine-fueled nights get the best of us all, but it's becoming borderline uncomfortable to watch Ramona's spiral into self-delusion. So will Ramona return to RHONY?

The series hasn't been renewed for a tenth season yet, but considering that Ramona is the only Housewife who's been on all 10 seasons, it's difficult to believe that she'd walk away from the show willingly. Although she's the self-professed queen of "renewal" (renewing her vows to Mario, renewing herself when her marriage was on the rocks, renewing herself as a divorcée, ad infinitum), it seems as though Ramona has never really drilled down to resolve her core issues with herself. She can put on a bright face, throw a refresher party, and pretend what's in the past is in the past all she wants, but each time she represses her feelings, we see her break down again in destructive ways by the end of any given season.

In an interview with Bravo's The Daily Dish podcast last May, Ramona addressed the question of if she would ever leave RHONY herself, saying:

"The only time I thought [about leaving] was Season 2. Jill [Zarin] had the idea to keep everybody separated during the reunion. She and Bethenny [Frankel] were on the opposite couch...I had both — not just Jill, but Bethenny — going after me nonstop...They attacked me like you cannot believe. I went home and couldn’t get out of bed for a day. I remember then, Mario, I said, 'I don’t think I can do this show anymore. I don’t think I can do this.' He actually said to me, 'Hey, it’s like giving birth. You’ll forget it.' Now reunions are a piece of cake for me."

Ramona may think she's fine to continue, but as her castmates become increasingly concerned about her, is it possible that Bravo could step in and not offer her a contract renewal? There was a time when Ramona's antics made for hilarious drama. But at a time when keeping up with the current political administration means listening to people who are completely detached from reality, viewers' tolerance for the same behavior in their escapist reality TV is waning.
