A Season 2 Of 'Beyond' Is Definitely Possible

by Zakiya Jamal

Freeform is bringing a new sci-fi drama to its channel with the premiere of Beyond in January. The show follows the story of a young man named Holden Matthews (played by Burkely Duffield) who wakes up after being in a coma for the past 12 years. He now has abilities that he can't explain, which throws him into the middle of a dangerous conspiracy that puts everyone around him in danger. Unlike previous Freeform shows, all 10 episode of the entire first season of Beyond will be available on digital platforms the same day the two-hour series premiere airs on Jan. 2, thereby allowing fans to binge the whole season in one fell swoop. And once fans finish watching, they'll probably be left wondering if there will be a Season 2 of Beyond.

Freeform has developed a bit of a record for having short-lived shows. Fans are still hurting over the loss of shows like Dead of Summer, Recovery Road, Guilt, Bunheads, Twisted, and Ravenswood, all of which were cancelled after their first season. With this in mind, it's no surprise fans don't want to get too attached to this new series. However, with Freeform's new move to make Beyond's entire first season available on digital platforms, the show won't only be relying on ratings week to week, but may also bring in new viewers online, thereby giving the show a fighting chance.

For now, though, fans will just have to wait and see if Freeform's new methods work in Beyond's favor. At the moment there's been no news about whether or not there will be a second season for Beyond and the news probably won't come until after the entire first season airs on TV. The best thing fans can do now is to make sure they watch the show and tell others to do the same.

With an amazing cast, which includes the likes of Jordan Calloway, Dilan Gwyn, Romy Rosemont, Jonathan Whitesell, Jeff Pierre and Michael McGrady, along with an interesting premise, Beyond is sure to suck people in. Filled with action, mystery, and of course, a bit of romance, Beyond may even be Freeform's next biggest hit that can help to fill the void that Pretty Little Liars is sure to leave behind once the show takes its final bow later this year.
