Will There Be More 'Gilmore Girls' Episodes? The Revival Could Continue

by Kathleen Walsh

Like all true diehard TV lovers, fans of Gilmore Girls are absolutely insatiable. They always want more, which is why now that Gilmore Girls has revived for four all new 90-minute episodes, they already want to know will there be more Gilmore Girls episodes after the revival? Theoretically speaking, the series could actually continue. Never say never, after all, though, I wouldn't get your hopes up too high just yet.

It's already been reported through various interviews and through occasional public service announcements that the four-episode revival will conclude with the famous last four words that show creator Amy Sherman-Palladino always wanted the series to end with. Because she and her husband/co-creator Dan Palladino left the series before the seventh and final season, she was never before able to end the show on her own terms, which includes the use of those final four words. That is a major reason why fans are so excited about this return. Almost 10 years later, the show will finally get to end the way Sherman-Palladino wanted it to.

But does this mean that it is necessarily the end? Isn't there any possibility that the series can continue even more into the future? I wouldn't necessarily rule out the possibility of more Gilmore in years to come, but if I had to guess, I'd say this is the end of it.

Simply taking into account the fact that so many different actors had to be found and schedules accommodated to make this a reality speaks to the monumental nature of the endeavor. Melissa McCarthy, Milo Ventimiglia, and Jared Padalecki are just three of the actors involved in a lot of high-profile projects at the moment. It can't have been easy to get all three of them back. When asked by TV Line about the final four words and if they'd felt a sense of closure, the Palladinos responded (rather cryptically) that "you never really get closure in life" and that it was the end of the story "for now, at least." Obviously this is not proof that there will be more Gilmore Girls in the years to come, but at least it means there's some hope for the future.

Whether or not fans ever get to see more Gilmore Girls beyond these four episodes, it's undeniably amazing to have the chance to revisit them so many years after the final episode of the series. It definitely speaks volumes to how deeply people were touched by the show that viewers all still hungry for more.
