7 Body Parts You're Cleaning Wrong & How To Do It Right

by Ni'Kesia Pannell

If you ask me, nothing can compare to a nice, hot shower after a long day of work. I'm sure that everyone loves getting a good wash in (hopefully) every day, but have you ever thought that you could be doing it all wrong? Sure that sounds funny, but what if you really are doing it wrong? Though your current way may not have failed you yet, there really are a few body parts you're cleaning wrong and learning to do it right could help you in the long run.

Although I was a little skeptical about taking advice that was unusual to my normal way of cleaning myself, after incorporating a few of these tips in my routine for a week, I noticed the changes that were mentioned. Some habits are harder to adapt than others. But with a little effort, getting there is no problem. It definitely takes a little time to remember that your hand washing has an actual time limit, but once you do, I guarantee you'll feel better knowing your risk for massive bacteria is down.

Need a little guidance on which body parts could use a revamp on the cleaning? These seven will help guide you correctly.

1

Your Vagina

Bustle noted that one body part that you are cleaning wrong is your vagina. From using scented soap to not cleaning your labia, there are a few things that you should make sure you are doing right when it comes to cleaning your lady parts.

2

Your Ears

Love the feeling that the q-tip gives you after a nice hot shower? Well according to Men's Journal, you don't need to cotton swab your ear. All you need is a soft washcloth, warm water, an eye dropper, and baby oil.

3

Your Teeth

WebMD noted that you need to spend at least two minutes brushing your teeth. Additionally, brushing more than three times a day can be damaging to both your gums and enamel, too.

4

Your Arms & Legs

According to The Huffington Post, washing your arms and legs with soap every day is not a good idea. Your arms and legs are not producers of many oils, so washing them with soap will cause your skin to dry out.

5

Your Face

Stylecaster noted that you shouldn't use hot water to wash your face as it drys skin out. Instead, use lukewarm water to keep your skin stays hydrated. In addition, be sure that you wash your hands prior to washing your face as to not increase the bacteria.

6

Your Hands

According to Mayo Clinic, you should be vigorously rubbing your hands together for no less than 20 seconds when washing your hands. If you are doing it for less than that time, you run the risk of bacteria still being there.

7

Your Entire Body

As surprising as it sounds, The Huffington Post noted that if you are soaping your entire body, you are making a big mistake in the shower. Stick to soaping up the areas of your body that sweat the most such as your butt, armpits, face and feet.
