Babies are a tornado of dirty diapers, sleepless nights, and an endless responsibility that can turn your world upside down. Still, and despite all that, becoming a parent was the best thing I ever did and I would love to do all over again. That's why I'm, personally, not a "one and done" mom. Instead, I have more than a few reasons why I can't wait to have another baby.
Sure, I guess there are more than a few reasons not to have a second child. I worry that we might not have enough time, energy, or attention leftover for our first child if I bring a newborn into the mix. I must admit I'ma little afraid my partner and I won't love the new baby as much as we love our son (although I am pretty sure hearts expand exponentially). Of course, there are concerns about the costs,too, because children are very expensive and if you have a second child you are committing to being a bit poorer for a bit longer. Plus, now that my son is a 3-year-old toddler and more independent, I'm not needed as much as I used to be. In other words, having a new baby will mean less freedom for me.
Still, despite all these concerns I know that I cant wait to have another baby. While I'm not pregnant now (before my friends and family start sending me frantic messages) I do know that I want another baby at some point and, hopefully, I will be able to expand my family without a hitch when that time does eventually arrive.
I Want To Experience Pregnancy Again
I know there are many women who have tough pregnancies that will emphatically and wholeheartedly disagree with me, but: pregnancy is the freakin' best. I loved, and I mean loved, being pregnant.
It was such an amazing time in my life. I felt special and blooming and really connected to my unborn baby. I am pretty sure it would be a different experience a second time around, seeing as I also have a toddler to look after and that every pregnancy and every baby are different, but I'm still excited about growing another baby inside my body.
I Want To Give Birth Again
OK, call me crazy, but I want to give birth again.
My son's delivery was nothing like I planned; everything went wrong and it turned into a big dramatic delivery with a huge gaggle of doctors and nurses and a ton of interventions. I would really like to experience a calmer birth next time around, and the only way to give that a shot is to go through childbirth again.
I Make Pretty Cute Babies
I already made a really cute baby (I know I'm biased, but he's gorgeous) so I'm super eager to have another shot at combining my features with my partner's features, and seeing the adorable baby that pops out. Plus, my partner and I have already nailed this parenting thing once before. Let's do it again, right?!
Newborn Cuddles Are The Best
When I recently held my friends new baby girl, I couldn't believe how light and delicate she felt. When compared to holding a wriggly toddler, it was like snuggling a cloud in my arms. In other words, babies are the best.
When I had a new baby, my favorite pastime was to snuggle on the couch, nursing and staring into his beautiful face. I cant wait to do this again.
Newborns Smell So Good
I love babies. I have always loved babies and through my early career as a nanny, I have cared for a lot of babies. However, there is absolutely nothing like holding your own, brand new infant.
Their tiny little fingers gripping onto you; their delicate rosebud lips; that smell! I'm telling you: newborns are intoxicating.
I Want To Breastfeed Again
I nursed my son until he was 30 months old and, although we had some problems initially, it turned into one of the most wonderful experiences of my life.
I loved breastfeeding and I cant wait to have and enjoy that special relationship again, with another child.
I Want My Child To Have A Sibling
My husband is an only child and is quite happy that way. However, I would really like our son to have a sibling.
Sibling relationships can be complicated and they don't always develop into the deep friendships that parents hope they will. Still, having a relationship with someone that has known you since birth and shares all your family memories is a pretty special thing.
I Envision My Family As A Family Of Four
When I picture our future selves, I see us as a foursome. Mom, dad, and two kids has always been my dream of a "perfect family."
I Would Like A Girl
I know there are no guarantees, and I would still be very happy if I ended up with two boys, but part of me would really love to have a girl. I have such a close relationship with my mom and I really want to develop that kind of bond with a little girl of my own. I would also be proud to raise a strong, smart, independent young woman.
Life throws us unexpected curve balls all the time and none of us really know what the future will hold. However, if my future includes another baby, I will be one very happy mama.
