Alex May Never Scrub In To 'Grey's Anatomy' Again

Grey's Anatomy is currently in the middle of Season 13 and over the course of so many seasons fans have seen a lot of their favorites come and go. In the first season there was Meredith, Alex, George, Izzie, and Cristina, or as they're more popularly known M.A.G.I.C. Now the only ones left from the OG residents are Meredith and Alex, which only makes for a sad M.A. Fans are desperate to hold onto these two, but many are worried Alex won't be sticking around for much longer. There's been some telltale clues that Alex won't return to Grey's Anatomy, but I'm hoping that it's not true.

At the end of Season 12, Alex beat up DeLuca so badly he almost went blind in one eye. Thankfully, Jackson was able to prevent that, but it didn't change the fact that Alex had committed an assault. After his hearing in Season 13, it was revealed that Alex was being charged with a felony and if he's found guilty he could be sentenced to at least 30 years in prison. Alternatively, if he accepts the plea bargain from the district attorney, he could skate by with only a few years in prison, but still he'd be in prison, which could mean fans have to say goodbye to Alex for a while. Here are just a few clues that Alex is leaving...

Alex Went To Accept The Plea Deal

At the end of the Season 13 midseason finale, Alex had gone to the DA to accept the offer, however, he hesitated when he got a voicemail from Meredith pleading him not to do. If he did accept the plea deal, Alex could be off the show for a season or two while he sits through his sentence. But it's very possible his feelings for Jo may outweigh his fear of being behind bars. And his gut decision told him to take the deal, so odds he may end up following throughout on that plan.

The Show Seems To Be Setting Up For Him To Leave

So far Season 13 has been very much about Alex. This makes sense because of his impending court case, but could it also be like what the show did when Cristina was leaving? Season 10 was a very heavy Cristina season and that seems to be what's happening this season with Alex. There's been plenty of Alex moments that could be setting him up for a big goodbye. In particular, there was the moment when Alex reminded Meredith to be there for Amelia and Maggie because she'll need them once he's gone. It definitely seems like the show is preparing us for an Alex departure.
