George Clooney Wakes Up With Amal When She Nurses, Because He's That Kind Of Dad

by Keiko Zoll

George Clooney definitely is in first place for dad of the year right now. As a refresher, in June, Clooney became a first-time dad to twins with human rights attorney and wife Amal Clooney. And despite their celebrity status, parenting twins is no easy task. Even so, according to an interview with the 56-year-old star on Entertainment Tonight, Clooney wakes up with Amal when she nurses the twins, because of course he does — as if the world needed even more reasons to swoon over him.

His reason for doing so is even more impressive, as he told Entertainment Tonight, "I do every three hours [and] if I don't get up, I feel guilty, you know? My wife is up nursing every three hours so it's a lot of work but it's fun man!" Goodness gracious, my heart can only swell with adoration so much.

Twins Ella and Alexander Clooney made their entrance on June 6, and Clooney has been candid about how over-the-moon he's been since their arrival. He's also kept it real, too. In August, Clooney told USA Today how he's used to the dirty work. "I just have to clean the barf off of my tux," he said. "It used to be my barf but now it's the twins' barf. So it all works out."

In a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter earlier this month, Clooney opened up about fatherhood, and how he sees his parenting relationship with Amal as a true partnership. He said:

I mean, look, we are all responsible for things in life, and Amal and I are responsible for each other in a way — we look out for one another and we care about one another. But you are really responsible for two kids. I want them to be happy. I want them to have a sense of humor. I want them to be interested in things. I want them to be compassionate about other people's plights. Because that's the thing, you know? You have to have some sort of empathy.

The Clooneys are amazing examples of parenting goals. Clooney has been quick to heap praise on his wife as she not only navigates new motherhood, but has been embracing it fully. According to a report from Us Weekly, Amal won't return to work until 2018 and Clooney's support for his wife has been truly admirable.

"She's like an Olympic athlete. She's doing so beautifully," Clooney said in August, according to Us Weekly. But his actions back up his words, too. He's reportedly been more than happy to pick up diaper duty and does so in stride, as he's noted several times in interviews since the twins' birth.

Getting up for round-the-clock feedings to support his wife is just another example of how Clooney has taken fatherhood head on and hand-in-hand with his partner in all of this.
