Fans Are Worried About Tormund's Fate After The 'Game Of Thrones' Finale

by Zakiya Jamal

As many fans expected, the Wall finally came down in the Season 7 finale of Game of Thrones. Unfortunately, what many fans weren't expecting was Tormund to be on top of the wall when it happened. So is Tormund dead on Game of Thrones? It's hard to know for sure.

Towards the end of the episode, Bran popped back into a raven at the wall to see what was going down with the whole "White Walkers are definitely coming to kill us all" situation. Turns out, the situation had only grown more dire. The ravens fly up ahead to find Tormund and Beric chatting up on the Wall. Everything seems as good as things can be when you're in the freezing cold, standing on top of a frozen wall until out in the distance comes the army of the dead.

Still, Tormund wasn't too stressed just yet, and rather than running down to safety (as I was screaming at him to do, for what it's worth), he stayed atop the wall in an effort to see what would happen next. Naturally, that's when the Night King came, riding in on his wight dragon. Finally, Tormund heard what I'd been saying for the past five mintues, and high tailed it down the wall, screaming at everyone else to do the same.

Of course, by the time Tormund (and Beric) realized what was going on, it was a little too late. Viserion starting blowing out what has been described as blue fire, ice fire, and everything in between, destroying the Wall. It then split down the middle, taking every one down with it, including Tormund. However, when it comes to Game of Thrones if you don't actually see a dead body, it's always fair to assume (and hope) that the character isn't actually dead.

Still, fans are very concerned and rightly so. Though Tormund was certainly moving pretty quickly down those stairs, he was still pretty high up when the wall came crashing down. Besides, even if the fall didn't kill him, he now has to contend with all the wights and White Walkers marching through, as well as the wight dragon that's still flying around. Honestly, Tormund's chances just aren't looking good and while Game Of Thrones loves to surprise fans with long lost characters, they also love to kill off our absolute favorites with reckless abandon.

Thus, it looks like viewers will never get to see Tormund and Brienne finally get together and have those kids he was dreaming about. Why can't any one on this show ever just have a happy ending?
